The only unfortunate thing about running a rolls box is that with our current system, we cannot run stereo channels (we use Allen and Heath's IP6 for mixing). That being said, a crystal clear mono mix is far better than a hissy stereo. Does anyone know of a good stereobox that would take Dante and is PoE?

So last week we had some issues with the wireless pack I normally use, so we decided we might as well try using a Rolls wired IEM box. While I wasn't a huge fan of being tethered in, the sheer increase of sound quality has made me never want to go back to a wireless pack. While we do have some top of the line packs, with our church being next to a massive comms tower, we get a lot of static and hiss.

Most the churches I play at have TOTL wireless systems, but I still choose to bring my own. Most of the time, the sound guys don't take the time set up the wireless packs properly... they just turn it on and go. It doesn't take long to re-scan for a clear signal... adjust squelch if the signal is a little dirty so you don't get any static interference, and increasing sensitivity to reduce any hiss if any. That's just for my IEM's only... since I chose to go analog because of zero latency. As for my bass wireless, I went digital... no noise but a little latency... 1.9ms latency is nothing, and my bass sounds as good as using cables.

Anyhow... cables are the best way to go, and I do keep them on my setup for backup, but never had to use them because of interference. I did have to go to my backup once, because someone wanted to try my bass... and accidently knocked the batteries out of the bodypack... and didn't notice it until the countdown started. Easy fix... pull out the "Bass in" cable from my personal rack... plug in direct.

I also have a backup cable for my wireless IEM... which never had to use. I can just plug into the headphone jack on the Rolls, or the front panel of my Senn EM IEM G4 transmitter... I can switch to my back cables in seconds if I have any wireless issues. Wireless isn't needed, but I love the freedom of cables, and keeping my playing area cable free and clean.

The only pedal I use is a comp.
I have a small reverb I mever use. The BTB675-comp-Peavy 115 set flat. Line out to FOH. Peavy is for monitor as in house ears are "poor". I like a nice round tone with a bit of mid boost which the BTB with Chromes does very well. Play mostly common hymns, a few newer pieces, abut I like some of the older hymns where can hit the B string like a pipe organ and rattle the windows.

Seriously, I give you kudos for rattling windows when (I'm guessing) a lot of the congregation are getting up there in years. You know -- TOO LOUD.

On the other hand, the older you get, you're hearing can "go out the window."

Our church has a Helix stomp. Are there patches on there that mimic that gritty, Ampeg SVT sound pretty well? Pretty much looking to replace a Ampeg SGT-DI.

Honestly Ive heard that Ians presets are actually not that dialed in, all the knobs are at even numbers and not seemingly "dialed". Jonah lane has ampeg IRs with his presets and Bryce vaughn also has a dirty (Id assume ampeg) vibe

Yet he arrives at outstanding results. Don’t let that one guy that really poo poo’ed Ian’s presets let you think that they don’t actually sound good.

Think about this… Even if a preset has every number “dialed in” it still won’t sound the same for you as it did for the person who created it.

honestly, I bought the IMA presets and they actually do sound good and I use them all the time.

I'm afraid if I purchase IMA's presets, I'll revert to the free one that was shared in the HX Stomp thread. I've just been building and tailoring around the free preset, and adding effects on top as snapshots. Sad that I don't use it to it's full potential... but it did stop me from looking at looking at new effects pedals... so in a way, it still saved me money... that's if I don't get tempted to buy presets. LOL...

I’ve only bought a couple and added together, it’s cheaper than one new pedal.

i bought the ima sig and the synth packs from him. Totally worth it in my opinion. You can also edit them if you want and have both… I get nothing but compliments about how good the bass sounds when i use em.

Just curious. For those with a Stomp— What effects do you use besides comp, octave, OD, chorus and a preamp? And how often do you use them? That’s what’s on my board now. Am I missing out on a bunch of other effects? Or is it more about the programmability?

It’s having the options of many different: distortions, EQ’s, comps, modulation effects, pitch/synth effects, delays, reverbs, amp sims, cab sims, mic models…

sometimes i build a patch just for one song on a Sunday morning because i can. I have access to everything to do the effects/sounds needed as it’s already paid for so all it takes is my time. I love getting to experiment with different sounds that doesn’t cost me another pedal, or redoing my board, etc…

so it’s not that I use all the different effects all the time, it’s just having the ability to have the option any time I want. I could play a a set and have THE or within ~ 90% of the original sound for each song if I wanted too, and it doesn’t cost me any more than the original price of admission to the hx stomp.

Agreed. Exploration can lead to some interesting places.
