For sure. But there were others up there with both Jesus Culture & Bethel who were playing around with the Tone Hammer + BMS sound before Dan and any of the current players came into the picture. Dan definitely ran with it and made it what it is today, but it's genesis cannot be fully credited to him alone.

I have a huge amount of respect for him as a musician and a bass player though. He really is incredible.

Coincidently Dan Mackenzie is the guy who "invented" the Bethel bass sound.

While he probably brought that sound to the CCM side of things. I'd attribute that sound with Chris wolstenholme more than him. Just my take on it though. No knock to dan or that sound.

Nice! My grandparents moved the family from Nebraska to Redding & started attending Bethel in the 1960's, so we have more than a bit of history up there.

I'd love to move back some day. It's definitely the one place that feels most like 'home'.

While we're on the topic, here's another one I've seen recently that sounds pretty good on bass:

I have one. I use it to stack with my Holy Fire for things that need a heavier drive. Not that the LVL is a heavy drive at all, but the two stacked give me what I need. I like to put it in front of the HF to push that pedal a bit. It has some nice low end retention---much better than the 1981 DRV, which I really didn't like for bass.
I wish it had top jacks...
