I was going to mention that on your video, the Grizzly sounds great. Almost makes me want to dig mine out of the closet. It's a great pedal.

The way I'm running the Microtubes 200 is roughly how the guy in this video has it EQd at timestamp 4:30.As someone who has used Aguilar for about a year now, or specifically the Tone Hammer, I'm inclined to agree with you (also not trying to throw shade) I still like aspects of it alot. I think it took awhile for my ear to place the way it does the mids isn't how I like to hear them? Like you said slightly honky/warbly is kind of how my ear hears it. I am however running it AGS always on, with gain at noon and the rest of the EQ at noon. And to my understanding of the AGS, the more the gain is pushed it pushes/saturates the mids even further.
To be honest I've used the TH so long I'm just a little afraid to pull it and start the experimentation of plugging new options in, but that seems to be what my ears are telling me
I've been eyeing the Grizzly the last few days, I know Miko, NickyBass, and a few others in here has spoken well of it too. I also have a SushiBox Underground Accelerator arriving tomorrow that I'm excited to play around with.
Also sorry, I didn't mean to derail the thread with technically non pedal talk, but this is about the only thread I do much gear chatting with. I mentioned more since it got the gears turning on still chasing "the tone".

My dirt pedal hunt went through a barbershop clone - and the a clone I made of the topologically similar SS/BS mini - I love the JFet drive sound… I'm sorted for drive…
That said the only thing that I've tried since that has blown me away is the grizzly - the range of drive and distortion tones - plus the really cool eq stuff
I think most TH AGS users dial the mids back pretty significantly with the gain up around noon. To me, the THDI is really just a great sounding overdrive box with a DI included. I wish you could buy the AGS circuit in a smaller pedal. I tried the Aguilar AGRO and Storm King and while they are similar they don't seem to nail the AGS drive.
He is using the version 1 Kilt. My WL advises that is the highly sought after and pricey version that has the magic. The current V2 may not be as magical. I may get one from JHS on their return policy to try it out.Everything in that video sounds great. I may have to look into the Kilt. That fuzz sounds wonderful.

The Tremond Rat is another drive option. @MikoFX has listed his Tremond Mini rat pedal for sale. I have one too and it sounds wonderful in finger style. Nice thickness and body to the note. With a pick, it's pretty much an aggressive rat, which in a dense mix does sound very good. The "standard" Bethel bass board contains a RAT device, so the Tremond is a good fit for modern worship tones.
That definitely makes sense. At my start I was using it more as my EQ too, as I was just running a P Bass and fewer pedals. With the Stingrays on board EQ plus some other additions that makes it easier to use it more like you stated.
I had read that about the AGRO and Storm King. Folks have also said that the Tone Hammer Head with the Gain set at 3:00 o clock is supposed to be equivalent to the Pedal with the AGS on, but I didn't think it sounded quite the same either.
I took the stomp to rehearsal tonight and used the foundation patch and a P bass… sounded great in my ears. Just like bass.
Finished this summer's board up-size project. Moved from my starter board Mono Lite+ 18x6 (now my "fly rig") to the Mono Small 18x12. I've been away for the summer and have three Sunday's booked for September. Can't wait to back into the groove....

Your "fly rig" is fairly close to my actual board lol I would personally add a mini compressor at the beginning of the chain (I like having those controls handy) but the Kilt is great as well!
Still just running the Korg tuner and HXStomp with Rolls for IEM. Nothing new and exciting.
Although, I love coming here and looking at everyone's pedalboards, and reading about new gear and effects that comes out. I came to the realization, that nobody notices difference in my tone... no matter what I add or upgrade. I realized that from what Ian Martin Allison said in a video I can't find anymore, but what he said made a lot of sense, and it comes to mind when I see new pedals and DI's come out. He said, if you are happy with your tone, and it sounds good to you, the sound guys, and your audience, spending $1000's in pedals, preamps, DI's... etc... wouldn't really add much to what you already have. ROI wouldn't be much from the money spent.
I still remember just bringing my 1st pedal... which was Sansamp VT Bass DI... into the church for the first time, and everyone was happy with my tone... haha... I was off today... so the teens led worship today. The bass player is new, and has nothing for pedals, and it sounded great to me. The reason why I got the HX Stomp was to reduce my urge to buy new pedals... It kind of worked... haha... but still very happy with it.
The only complaint I have on my tone, is how the volunteers EQ and mix me through FOH. It varies week to week. Some days it sounds great... and some days people mention bass isn't loud enough. All I have control is what I hear in my IEM's... which is my personal obsession. I think I spend more money on improving the sound in my IEM's than trying/buying new pedals and basses.
Same here… but then the quad cortex showed up and I like that thing even more
Everybody loves my overdriven bass tone especially when I play with a pick but no one in the congregation cares what presets I use or how I attack the strings. They just know it sounds goooodd.
I also don't like how FOH does the bass in general in the overall mix. It's either too quiet or too trebly or just non-existent. I showed them samples from previous worship service audio recordings we had where the bass was prominent and properly mixed but it's still never done right.

Helix LT for me. I can't justify the QC as a weekend warrior. I have other things to spend money on too.
Similar story here, anyone I've asked for feedback on says my tone sounds great, and I even ask them not to just blow smoke lol. We are Post EQ too so I get more particular about trying to be really dialed in. Even with good feedback, the knob tweaking, and pedal experimentation persists haha. Hopefully soon our livestream will be share worthy as I'd like honest feedback from fellow bassists too
I'm a weekend warrior as well!
Everything's a compromise, there's things I prefer about the LT and other things I prefer about the QC. I thought hard bout getting the LT… but I was able to sell the noble for the price of the QC, so that made it easy. A smaller, lighter footprint and the giant touch screen are REAL nice.
I like the stomp and still use it. Fits in my backpack on a nano board, lightweight, plenty of good sounds on tap and it's stocked with Ian Allison's presets… some of which I've tweaked. It just replaced my sansamp as my backup rig and depending on the set list I may opt to use it instead.
