Are you going XLR out of the Bassrig (w/ cab sim) or 1/4" (no cab sim) out into another DI?
This Sunday will be the first service that I will use it. I am using octave, overdrive, fuzz and chorus. I stacked a few things to make it work. I have an eq with the octave foot switch and an OD with the fuzz foot switch. Just to beef them up a bit.
I hooked up my favorite analog pedals and tried to duplicate them. I was getting discouraged because the Stomp didn't sound as good. Then I decided NOT to try to make a direct clone, but instead find what I liked about the analog pedals and try to capture that. Once I realized that, I was able to identify some of the things that I DIDN'T like about the analog pedals and try to get an even better tone. Then the next few hours were a blur and I'm not sure what happened. I was just zoned out and when I recovered, I had some sounds that I liked and took a nap.
So, what I have now is a few things that I will miss about my analog pedals, BUT also a few things that are a bit of an improvement on the analog pedals. I'm excited to see how it does.
The Stomp will be so much more convenient. On my single row 18 inch board, there is the tiniest amount of overhang on each side, but not enough to freak out about. It's cool because there is a 10 second section of Whole Heart that has chorus on it, and I can do that. Or there is not enough synth to set up the keyboard, so I can just use the octave for those short sections. Plus, I didn't even get into compression, amp sims or global eq. I wanted to get the effects dialed in first. Because if I'm not happy with the effects, then I probably wouldn't use it at all. I'm pretty satisfied with my dry tone.
I think it's going to work well.

Haha. Yeah, it was a journey for sure. And I still have more to go. I'll certainly share what works for me. The truth is, I spent so much time trying everything and stacking everything, so without looking at the editor, I have no idea what I ended up with on some of the settings. I just know that it's sounding pretty good. I do know that I have the Alpaca Rouge by itself for OD. But, I don't know what I ended up with for octave, fuzz and chorus. I did notice that the main preset that I came up with doesn't work with all my basses. I only play my P5 at church, so it isn't an issue. But, I will need to do a separate preset for my J. The good news is that I'm a lot more comfortable with the editing software, so when I get some time, I can go back and quickly finalize the settings and start new presets for my other basses. (Which is another great feature of the Stomp.)

I was so impressed with using the Novation Bass Station, I pulled the trigger on a Moog device. I've listed this as-new Bass Station if some other worship bassists wants to take the plunge.
My DCX arrived. Loving the clean tones and will use it on a nano to go to FOH, but I put it on my large board to use the OD and I am struggling with the tones tbh. I will continue to experiment. What have people switched in for the DCX in this application? A good ole Aguilar agro really appeals to me, or possibly an EQD Blumes but the stupid amount of output it seems to have scares me. I see the BD-2 mentioned on here a little but the yT clips I have seen sound really scooped to my ears.
Other overdrive pedals I really like in addition to the DCX Bass:
- Free The Tone Black Vehicle (very responsive, with more clipped mids than the DCX Bass; irksomely large enclosure)
- Singular Audio Tubedrve (lovely tube breakup, but doesn't have as much low end heft as the DCX Bass)
- Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop Millenium Overdrive (lovely warm, vintage character; unfortunately has sidejacks)
- Broughton Audio Chimera (rare, hard to find)
- Broughton Audio Sunray (rare, very hard to find)
- Broughton Audio Quicksilver (rare, very hard to find)
Somehow ended up playing bass and singing lead this week. It's sooo much harder than guitar and singing but I like the challenge.

Wait, didn't you just get the Bass Station? Why are you getting rid of it? Just taking the Moog plunge instead? Did the Bass Station not give you enough oomf?
The Bass Station is nice but there's something absolutely a Moog. It seems any bass player you see on stage who doubles has a Moog Sub37.
Sounds like the same dilemma I have with EH Bass MicroSynth. I've tried to recreate it with the HX Stomp and a combination of analog pedals (JHS Kilt + Chorus + MXR Vintage Bass Octave)…no dice! Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy the real thing.
Yes, the Bass Station was my low risk entry point. It got great sounds! It sounded so good, that I decided to get the Moog that I had always wanted. In reality, I'm guessing that there won't be much difference between the two for the bass layers I will most use, and the Bass Station is more portable. But the Moog mystique.....
I have a synth sound I have put together in my HXS that I really like, but it is different to the BMS even though it is built with the same sequence of effects, I have gotten closer with my Aguilar board, but again, not quite the same. The square drive of the BMS has this different sound to it, like the rate of the fuzz is slower compared to many fuzz pedals out there? I hope that makes sense - I don't know how else to describe it. Like a V8 vs a 2 litre turbo? Being able to have compression start and finish of the signal chain makes a big difference also I feel.
