I tried it both ways. I prefer it before my HX Stomp, not in the FX loop. Personal preference only, no real technical reason.
I would probably start by seeing if either one has room at the nut for a B string. The B will have a larger diameter so might not be a direct fit on all 4 string basses. But I would imagine that some are a bit more worn in than others and maybe you can sneak a B string over the E string nut.
After you try it for a bit, if you decide that you're going to go all in, I like MikoFX's solution. Try both. Because basses with B strings are finicky. There are a lot of 5 strings out there that have floppy B strings. Some people can find a way to make them work, but I don't want to have to 'make' something work. I just want it to work. So, I'd say try every option that you have.
A true miracle of physics happened now as I was able to fit the rest of the pedals on my board after swapping a top jacks one for a side jacks one.
I even reused the cables and have space to plug into the aux of the MXR.
I like the HPF at the beginning but as long as it's before the OD I think it's worth it.

It only works when you play songs that are 88 bpm.
Small update here. I returned to the stage about a month ago after some staff changes. Was really nice to get back on stage and connect with the team again. Picture of my board from last Sunday. I was rearranging stuff, but got zip ties and these little cable tabs from 3M to do cable management today.
If anyone is curious how the signal chain sounds, I've been downloading backing tracks and trying to record playing to them by ear in one take, just to work on ear training. Here's a little clip, far from perfect but you get the idea.

Sounds good. Hard to beat a P bass these days for me. If there's a tube in there somewhere, even better. My P with flats through my Khan tube DI is just a great sound.

I agree with you there, I've realized I'm a P guy and I'm ok with that haha. Would still like to try the Khan, never heard a bad thing about it. What flats do you like to run?
I have TI's on my Fender and LaBella's on my Roscoe.

I also use a P-bass as my primary... with Lollar pup's. I have J, but rarely use it. I might install my Fralin pup's (still in box) on it, and give it another go. I tried using flats... but I always revert back to rounds. A lot of the CCM songs we do usually have a little dirt in the tone when I listen to the isolated bass on multitracks. I play with a pick 80 percent of the time with most CCM songs we do... and I can different tones from he angle of the pick, palm mutes, etc... but I do use finger style also... depending on the songs. The P-Bass is my favorite with my playing style.
I use the classic jr pedalboard also... I want to go smaller, but I have the hard tour case for it... so I might as well use it. Plus I like the pedals I have... and can't fit them all on a smaller board.
Speaking of the Khan... I like it so much, I replaced the feet on my classic jr with longer feet... so I could fit on the bottom.
I used Industrial strength Dual Lock, and I have no worries of my Khan falling off the bottom.
Another thing I use that I see on your pic... is the Chuck's... I have a collection of Chuck's at home... hahaha....
