A little late but this was last Sunday's rig. Maiden voyage with the P.
For Helix users, what drives are you using these days? The Obsidian sounds really nice and gets labeled as a metal drive but I don't necessarily hear it that way. I don't find fuzz to be super useful for my application but I'd like to experiment a little more with drives in the Stomp.
I'll double check when I get home but I think I use the prize drive. I played my churches Stomp and someone had set it up, it sounded great so I put the same thing in my Helix.
I've used the Teemah, Obsidian and Clawthorne. I'm also starting to experiment with my own captures. Most often though, I'm using amp models for drive sounds. Also, parallel routing opens up lots of possibilities.
Minotaur for me in Path B but most of my drive sound comes from the SVT BRT amp head I like. I want to try smth different like Teemah or the Tubescreamer but we shall see...
Most frequently - increase the gain on the Studio Tube Pre. If more saturation is needed I add the Retro Reel, but this does roll off some high end.
I occasionally use Teemah at low gain settings or some fuzz.
And very very occasionally the Brassmaster for sheer madness - only on 1 patch

Thanks everyone! Last night I railed the gain on the LA-2A model with the B-15 amp I made and that was really nice for just a bit more grit. I also use the Clawthorn with the fuzz very low. I like fuzz but it gets me in trouble.

Yes! I have spoken to our main sound guy about that as well. We even talked about possibly moving the LucyDreamer to after the Noble so that the Noble channel could be fully clean, but then the Lucy misses out on all the other goodies in the path before that making most of my previous reasoning moot. We are going to try the first option at our main campus on July 12th. I'm serving at our other location until then and the soundboard doesn't have an input to spare. I figure it'll give the rest of the band a nice always cleaner option for their IEMs if they don't want the sim/drive of the SV.
I have the Retro Reel in almost every patch I've created. It adds a nice bit of saturation and it's interesting that several posters above are also using it.
I think this is an area where Line 6 could serve users better with more studio oriented effects, preamps, etc. Especially considering the units with mic inputs. They have the Studio Pre, which I have used, the Retro Reel, the LA-2A, but it would be great to see more studio pres, comps & EQs, even some console channel strips. I'd also love to have a Diamond Comp w/tilt EQ block.

Retro reels is awesome. I use it as a mod most of the time but I'll bump the saturation and put it after a fuzz to get some cool shoegazey sounds. Any particular song you like to use it on?
I've been looking at a lot of different things for a pedal board and I had the thought of just running my bass through my laptop. I'm currently using a MacBook Pro M4pro with reaper and I have access to a lot of plugins already. Instead of trying to get a pedalboard set up I was thinking about just buying a portable audio interface and setting something up with plugins. Is anyone doing this?

I've had this thought as well - especially as I play synth bass as well -but it seems like every gig our keyboard player has issues with connecting and getting things linked up. I don't want that.
I'm using it just for the saturation, no modulation. It's typically an always on thing with a few exceptions.
You should be able to use MainStage for bass. I considered this because I mix in LogicPro and have dialed in some good tones that way. My reservation is the durability of a laptop and interface vs. a pedal board with components built to travel and get stepped on, and most often for me, Helix StadiumXL. I'm willing to give up some flexibility for durability.
Yeah, I think I would want to get some kind of really sturdy laptop stand to make sure it's no where near anyone's feet. There are some really cool interfaces that I think are sturdy enough you could integrate them into a board.

This one fascinates me. It has returns and sends after the input but before the digital conversion so you can integrate your pedals into your computer system easily and it has an all metal chassis.
Our bass players are usually next to our keyboard which is a Nord built into an old piano shell, so you have a nice flat area to put a laptop.
I have this. It's an amazing interface but the inserts in the id24 are line level. Meant for outboard rack units. For pedals you can run them into the 1/4" hi-z input to bypass the preamp similarly at instrument level.
This weekends board. Aguilar Storm King while I wait for a Woolly Mammoth in the mail… at this point I sometimes wonder why, I could just go back to an Aguilar Tone Hammer with a BMS infront

I have the Storm King as well. I think it is a better fuzz than an overdrive. They rep it as an AGS in small form. I've had the Tone Hamer AI (THDI). The Storm King does not sound as good or even really close to the THDI.This weekends board.
