Worship Bass Pedalboards

We did Call Upon the Lord yesterday and in my quest to replicate the tone I came close but fell short. FWIW I am probably the only one that knew or cared. It would seem from the article that I read about David Curran LINK that he uses an Octron into a Blue Sky. I came really close using a Octamizer with no clean signal into a Chorusaurus with very mild settings to just add a bit of shimmer. I plan to get a reverb pedal of some type as we do this song often.

As far as reverb pedals go, I am debating between the Blue Sky, since it appears he uses that, and the MXR Reverb as I like their pedals and don't think I will use a reverb that often, so saving $100 is appealing. Any thoughts on this subject?

Haven’t played on the Blue Sky but, I love the MXR Reverb on my board.

Whats your favorite delay? I can try the 2 that I mentioned, but would be willing to audition something else whilst I am at it.
I use the TC Electronic Flashback Mini - I had the bigger one but because of pedalboard real estate and a genuine need for simplicity I moved to the Mini. I use the Janek Gwizdala "Sausage & Beer" toneprint and it's just on... just enough to make it breathe :)

Setup for this weekend. Setlost is:
Center My Heart
Your Love Awakens Me
Your Love Never Fails (backup)
Oh God (Dustin Kensrue version)
Lord, I Need You

Excited for my first run with the Bass Station. Center my Heart has some bass synth in it so it gave me a good reason to take it out.

I'm also very interested in how the synth works for ya. I'm about to purchase one myself. I'm looking at the korg monologue though.

On a separate note, I thought we were the only church to do a Dustin Kensrue song, ha. We've done several of his songs but he isn't well known for worship stuff. Much better known in Thrice.

We've done a lot of the old Mars Hill bands' music. Citizens and Saints, Modern Post, even Kings Kaleidoscope from time to time. Our music director is all about that style.

Got any specific recommendations? "Made Alive" is one of my favorite songs that we do.

Citzens - Current - Oh God, Sweetness of Freedom (awesome to play on bass), In Tenderness, Amazing Grace, Brought me Back to Life
- Previously - Made Alive (congregation never caught on), Jesus!, Greatly to be praised,

Kings - All Creatures, Come Thou Fount, Jesus Paid it All

Most of these we havent done in a while but sometimes get thrown in
Modern Post - Before the Throne (bass does lead line, synth does bass line)
Ghost Ship - Mediator
Rend Collective - Build Your Kingdom Here

Theres quite a lot more I just cant remember all the artists and versions we did. Heres an old Spotify playlist I made a long time ago of some of the artits. Gives you an ideas to check out anyway. We didnt play all those songs, but we did utilize a lot of ideas fro those artists.

Did my worship leader move to your neck of the woods? Ha. We have done the same stuff. We've done at least a dozen of the citizens songs. We did In Tenderness last week. We did "Jesus" a few weeks ago.

Gorgeous setup - that all black Warwick looks as cool as can be!

As for me this weekend we're doing baptisms which is always a party for us. Great set and trying a little bit different setup for me. Same pedalboard I previously posted, just running into my ABM500 and 2x12. Both DI off the Tone Hammer and a mic on the 2x12 and at rehearsal last night, it was KILLER. So excited to hear it this weekend!

As promised here's the video from last weekend. Adding the actual amp into the mix was fun. We have an amp wall behind stage where everything is mic'd up so there wasn't a ton of presence and feel on stage. Was lucky enough to have separate channels for my pedalboard and the amp in my IEMs to really use both. We set the amp to be extra pokey in the mids, and loud enough to start to actually excite the cones a little. It brought out some warmth that is somewhat missing a lot of the time, especially when the B3K is on. It just helps balance and tame the OD a bit having an amp and speakers. In the video you're getting a blend of the 2 signals. 2nd set of music comes in around the 1:06:00 mark.

I'm new to this thead and have not read all the entries but this recording is super. What church are you at?

EDIT: Found it... Flatirons... You guys sound great!

"Free Fallin'" is literally one of my least favorite songs of all time, if I heard that in a church I would never darken its doors again. :D
Hahaha, definitely on my "NOT Top 10" list as well. It can be surprisingly fun despite it's simplicity, but to say I'm burned out on the song is being nice.

Thanks for your kind words! If you go back maybe 5 pages or so you can see my setup and some more videos.

Our band sucks compared to this. Better songs, better mix, better playing. I wish I could get our team to do stuff like this.
