I think it's pretty common knowledge that the Ampeg SVT and all of its variants is the worst bass amp anyone has ever played through. That's pretty much a given, right?

What cabs were you pushing with it? I had one with an SWR Workingman 2x10 and a Hartke 1x15 and it sound great and put out plenty of volume. I only traded it because I wanted to go light with Class D.As the title says what is the worst amp or combo you have actually played through and why?
Worst head
I have a Ampeg b2r and I'm nominating it for the worst amp I've played through.
I do like its tone although nothing special its not bad at all, that's where the love ends.
As many members note the output is pathetic and especially if you use the pad switch even with a powerful active bass. I'm sure I've heard 25w amps that are louder and even with the pad switch out at 8ohms I'm sure it only just about equals 100w.
It has no right to be as heavy/big or as expensive as it was originally, especially as the build quality is so so too.
Not the worst amp but too me it's the worst I've played through and own.
Worst combo
Now far enough this was only a tiny practice amp but still I had the misfortune of owning a peavey micro bass the later foreign made ones and it sounded honestly like a glorified alarm clock and then it went with a fart and blew up! Which is a shame as in general I've think peavey stuff is alright.
I actually think it is the ampeg B15. Worst amp I ever played through in my life. It was a '68 and had been freshly serviced when I tried it out in 1970. Utter Garbage. SVT's are a close second.I think it's pretty common knowledge that the Ampeg SVT and all of its variants is the worst bass amp anyone has ever played through. That's pretty much a given, right?
My first bass amp in 1982 was a Marlboro 220B combo. It was truly awful.

About a year later I bought a used Kustom III Bass head and a used Peavey 215 cab. It was louder, but nearly as bad sounding.

Wow, so edgy. Look how independent and and cool you are for calling stuff other people love garbage. Next you'll tell us to "wake up, sheeple!"I actually thinks it's the ampeg B15. Ha!Now that you mention Peavey, I have a small Peavey Microbass that simply refuses to die. Any bass sounds... just about ok through it, it's actually a very democratic amplifier in that it makes my first ever cheap-ass Precision knockoff bass sound exactly like my German-made Warwick or vice versa.
Ha! View attachment 833894 early 70s Kustom. The blue sparkle roll & tuck was the only good thing about it.
