Jorts are bad, but men's jeggings are a crime against humanity only surpassed by the mankini.
The Godfathers of Heavy Metal can be forgiven here, but what were they thinking for the Sabotage album cover shoot? Glad this look didn't last. Is Bill Ward wearing red ballet dancer tights?
I think I was at this show (Alpine valley, 1987). But i don't recall him wearing anything but black pocket tees in that era. He must have been feeling festive, or been at the bottom of his laundry pile to be wearing a red tee.
Finally! The British Invasion bands wore suits, etc. because they wanted to look professional AND successful. The San Francisco bands look like they came straight to the gig from cleaning leaves out of their gutter.

In a supposedly post-apocalyptic world, those girls certainly had fabulous hair and make-up.
Too many bands today are dressed for hanging sheet rock.

Hippies never bothered with leaves in the gutter, unless they were hiding their plants up there to dry the leaves out. Different eras anyway; the first substantial band out of SF in the British Invasion time period, the Beau Brummels, were fairly snappy dressers…
