Here's an angle I haven't seen before. Such a waste of money? I don't get it. Care to explain?
This quote is beautiful....
Hilarious! Could have traded it for a guitar that was $1500 and could likely have easily flipped it for $1000-1100, but passed so he can sell it for under (and likely VERY under) $900. Beauty.
Don't forget the posting later states he or she isn't sure if it is a REAL strat. $1000 bucks for a pretendocaster? No thanksfrom the ad
Very nice Fender guitar! I personally did the relic and is not a Fender Custom Shop!
wow.
I wouldn't buy that, the neck's too fat.
A mod's work is never done....
To the posters...let's keep this discussion about the technical aspects of why this does not work as a relic job. And it certainly does not-it's probably the worst relic job I have ever seen, and I have been moderating this forum for many years. No relic bashing- we don't allow that here- just describe why this is a badly done relic.
To "Izac," the relic-er who I've already had to ban who clearly did not read our rules…you don't need to be a professional architect to say that a house built with windows on the ground and a door on the roof was badly designed. And I'm not going to let throwing personal insults at my members fly here- if you're worried about your business being affected by this thread as you stated in your post reports, then perhaps you should focus more on your own behavior and skills first.
Why is relicing such a controversial topic? I've never seen hostility towards tube vs solid state, sealed vs ported, etc. Pesonally, I don't like it. I take great care with my instruments and equipment and they look it. My wife was a beautiful woman when I married her 20 years ago, and I expect her to be that way in 20 years (humorous simile for the humor challenged). In my opinion (which I do have a right to) relicing seems fake, I don't get it. Others (who also have a right to their opinion) really like relics and I'm happy that they found something that floats their boat. I have some very nice and expensive basses, but sometimes I like to take my Squier to a gig because I like the way it plays. If anyone (and it's never happened) wanted to judge my by my instrument, I'd be fine with that as long as they heard me play it first. After all, I am the bass player for the band that was just voted the Second Best Band in the Hudson Valley for 2015 (shameless plug, still waiting for the best band's bassist to post because he must be a TB member). Either way, everyone is entitled to the instrument of their choice, all I would judge someone by is their style and ability (because I have the right to like/dislike style and ability).
The long intro was to avoid being attacked for not using search or being uneducated or being called an outdated/somewhat creepy name or not using visual aids (although I annotate) or some others sophomoric drivel.
Now to the point. That is one ugly guitar! Why would someone do that? I wouldn't claim I did that if I were the seller, I'd claim I rescued it from a dumpster (humorous part).
Wow, I hope my post isn't viewed as relic bashing. I really don't have an much of an opinion on relics as I would never even consider one. A post I made on another thread was met by a hostile attack, hence the disclaimer? Luckily, I teach 7th grade and the attack was pretty much on that level, so it fell short. This leads me to believe that it may not be relics in particular but the response some people have to the bashing of them that's the problem. Perhaps some (a very small minority) take it as a personal insult if you say you don't like relics. Relics aren't even a blip on my radar. Besides, I'm mainly a Spector guy and would never do that to one of them. Speaking of Spector, the headstock on your avatar has a nice greenish look to it, at least on my iPad. Looks great with the gold hardware.I feel the same as you do, but I've just learned by direct message from a moderator that bashing relicing is not permitted on TB... it's their forum, and their rules. It's interesting yes, as we are allowed to be critical of a lot of other things here, but maybe the owners feel this is simply too subjective and transcends into the "personal" attack vs technical disagreement.

I have four Spectors, three Korean and one Euro. I live about ten minutes from the U.S. factory and have been there a few times. Hung out with Stuart for over three hours one day, awesome guy. Signed my bass and took a couple of pictures, it was like visiting Santa's workshop. I accidentally reliced my Euro and they undid my handy work whike I waited, no charge. Can't say enough good things about Spector, the man or the company. I've seen your avatar before and when I finally have my USA version made, I thought a green headstock would be perfect. They do some amazing custom builds and you can choose the body and neck wood and everything else if you want to. /hijackYeah, I might have played around with the color when I downloaded that pic... or maybe the purple background plays tricks. Love my Spector too, and I keep it like the day it was made condition..![]()
