Guitar player has a Quad Cortex! I didn't listen to the entire song, but I didn't hate it. A little LA studio magic and I might really like the song. Maybe?

If I had heard that on the radio it would have been ok, and I would describe her technique simply as "different" (probably better than mine even)

You all are welcome to roast and critique my technique. Teaching myself/playing electric for about a year or so. Played DB, off and on for 25 years, but hands/arthritis is getting unbearable. Not sure if i am using proper technique, but it seems to work.

FWIW, I never practiced or heard these songs, until playing them now.

It's practically a genre on its own now. My IG feed these days is regularly peppered with trios I've never heard of with "hot woman on bass with marginal playing ability, clean-toned faux-exotic guitar playing dude, sensible tidy drummer" often with wigs or some other similar styling, playing vaguely groovy, snooze-worthy music. They seem to be crawling out of the woodwork.

What I’m a bit baffled by is this…Khruangbin’s first album came out almost 10 years ago. I first read about them in the British music magazine Mojo, then not long after, the buzz about the band grew. I saw them at a festival in ‘17, and in a theater in ‘19. I wanted to catch them at the Greek Theater in LA(almost 6K capacity)post covid, but scheduling didn’t work out. Five albums, numerous EP’s and collaborations, but only in the last couple of years or so have there been clones/wannabe bands. What took ‘em so long? Then some more cluelessness…Khru is up for a Grammy for best new band. What? NARAS has always been out of touch though, no surprise.

It's a tale as old as time. Woman plays in a funny way, dudes poke fun and feel good about themselves.

The music sounds chill, the technique is fine if that's the sound she gets, the band looks goofy but many bands do. Much ado about nothing, I guess?

I don't know about Talking Heads, but that's definitely the King Crimson story when Boz Burrell was their bass player

There’s a local guy with similar left hand technique and he plays fretless P-bass. His intonation is great and he’s a smoking player…rock, blues, country, funky jazz...
