Worth trading?

Hello everyone, I’m reaching out to you for advice on a trade. I have a 66 Ampeg B15N in excellent condition (recently serviced). Someone is offering me a 2003 Fender Marcus Miller V in great condition as a trade. I also own a 61 B15n which I am keeping. What do you all think? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Although the bass is very nice I would not do this trade.
The B-15 vintage amp is in the holy grail category and that bass is in the ordinary category.

I personally wouldn’t do that trade. Don’t know how much 2003 MM Jazz basses are going for, but a local shop by me recently sold a 66 b15n like yours for ~$2500.

It sold pretty quick too.

The American 5 string Marcus Miller basses go for around $2500 give or take. But I wouldn’t do that trade unless you really want that bass . Doesn’t sound like you do so no. Trade for something of equal value that you really want .

"Worth it" is hard for me to judge, but going by sold listings on Reverb, the average selling price is quite similar.

I'm a huge Marcus fan as well as an Ampeg loyalist but, there's no way I could justify swapping a B-15N for a that bass as nice as I'm sure it is. Not worth it imo.

Sold listings of the MM5 show its selling for anywhere between 2750 and 3250 or so. I don’t know the value of the amp, but it’s for sure a classic and I’m not sure the MM5 has that kind of stature.

I personally wouldn't though. Not unless some cash was offered in addition to the bass to balance out trade value.

Sounds like a tough call, but maybe? Have you played and inspected the MM? I think I'd have to do that first, make double-sure it's a primo example with no issues at all. Plus, I'd have to really want a MM 5 in that finish, and be unable to source a great example for reasonable money. If the values are equal, then sure because you're keeping the other Ampeg anyway. Ideally, maybe get some cash along with the MM. It seems that the values of both aren't going down any time soon. Please correct me, but as I understand it, the Fender is not coming back into production. Whereas Ampeg has released a reissue B15 (?). Good luck.

If they both have equal value and you have a 61 B15N And you really want the Bass ........ then do it. But, I personally would keep the B15N as it will only go up in value as time goes on. The Bass? Maybe not.

the amp is perfect...and judging by the pictures that bass has one to many strings on it
