Would this HF driver swap be good or bad?

I have a pair of Yamaha S115v cabinets. They are fine, but I have a pair of JBL 2417H drivers available to swap into the Yamaha's. I do not know the wattage specs of the JBL drivers but I assume it is more than the Yamaha (Eminence) units.

The JBL cabinets the drivers came from were crossed over at 1.2K, the Yamaha's are crossed at 1.7K. Would this be an upgrade, or could this damage my Yamaha crossover network? Thanks for your input.

It shouldn't hurt the yammy crossover at all... you'd only get > 1.7K being fed to the JBL tho'.
I'd check wattage on both and see how they match... other than that, the JBL's should work...

Now, if the JBL's were crossed at 1.7 and the Yammy's at 1.2.... you'd have a problem! :)

I dunno, those Yamaha diaphragms are pretty tough and sound quite decent, all things considered.

My instinct would be to Ebay the JBLs and get something else you need. Unless you have more cabs that need HF devices.
