Would You Be Buried With a Bass? (Poll)

When I was young, my neighbors gave me a violin that was their "Grampa's old violin" - a very nice violin that's now well over 100 years old. (60 year old Fender.... so what?). He had passed, on, and they thought it'd be nice to give it to someone young (and alive) who would play it. Good call.

Having been the recipient of such generosity, and no longer playing violin myself, I have now passed that wonderful violin (and one my parents bought me) on to a couple young people starting out in music through a local charity. In fact, the majority of the musical instruments I have had the pleasure of "owning" (or stewarding) I have passed on (that includes a bunch of basses). I still have more than enough for the gigs I do, but those are also earmarked to be given away once I am no longer around to play them - which I hope is still a lot of years away.

BURIED with a good musical instrument? No way. OK, maybe a 70's Fender, but a good musical instrument?

Not no, but HELL no. The damn things have probably shortened my life, the whole roller-coaster of emotions through my time with them I know helped me miss a lot I'll never have a chance to see again, and they often worried me to . . . . . well, I guess they didn't worry me to death, but had to have sped things up !

Looking at the thread title, it doesn't really specify that the bass belongs to the person being buried, which begs the question: "Would you be buried with some else's bass?"

As for all the others?... I've got a drummer son and 6 grandkids.
Hopefully. At least one of them will take the P and carry on.
The others?..They can keep em, sell em, or give em away.

My preference is to be cremated.

The funeral homes are already making money hand over fist, so I would get cremated as well, but ONLY if my body can't be donated to science.
Even a cremation costs $1k minimum, which is kind of ridiculous!

If my ashes could just be put in the dustbin at the location of the burn, that would be cool, too.
I've never gone to visit someone's grave in my lifetime, except for some celebrities for the photo opportunity.

I can remember people w/o standing on their body.

If I go back and update my will, I've considered adding a clause that anyone who played in a band with me could come and take one instrument or piece of gear when I go. Anything left can go in the estate to be auctioned off if my kids don't want it.

I'm going to the body farm in Knoxville to be tossed out on the ground so my rate of rot and decay can be observed. so any bass going with me would be wasted or kiped by someone. As with all my possessions, wifey gets them.

How about buried in a bass, I want to be cremated so I told my wife I want the ashes poured in a mold with plexiglass resin poured in, in the shape of a jazz bass and add a neck and hardware and I'm ready to go. The vibrations will keep me happy. She doesn't like the idea.

Definitely not, under any circumstance, is anything of value to be buried with my worthless hide unless it's something that grows and my rotting corpse can be of value as fertilizer.....

For situations like this the recommended tuning would be D-E-A-D, and before burying (if equipped with one) make sure the kill switch is removed, to avoid suspicion.
