This is a specific/vague, 'putting the feelers out there' question, in which I will try to be as concise as possible.

If someone offered to sell you a refurbished/upgraded Yamaha RBX200, how much would you think was a reasonable price?

I realise that; I had a quick re-read of the rules to make sure I wasn't breaking them, after your first reply. I can't see that I am breaking any rules.

I think you've assumed a little too much here; the bass sort-of doesn't exist. :D

To clarify my question:

This isn't a classified, no-one has offered me this bass - because it's one of my own. Project bass, had it in pieces for a while now, want to get it gone, or at least return it to action, soon.

Seeing as it's years out of production, I have enough difficulty finding consistency in prices on various websites, also in non-internet classifieds. I'm still looking back through the years of Talkbass classified posts. I know that generally, 'people will pay what they think it's worth', and I know I'd prefer to at least break-even on it, rather than lose money. Seeing as it's not a 'prestige' bass, it doesn't carry any notable historic value, etc.

This is why I'm asking the TB community what they might pay for such a thing. Or what they might have paid for similar things in the past. Have you ever bought a refurbished low-mid-budget bass?

You're asking what a reasonable price would be for a bass you own. The reason this kind of thing isn't allowed because you could conceivably be asking in the hope someone would send you a private message making an offer for the bass. It's a way to sell a bass here without being a paid member. That may not be what you're doing but that's why this kind of question is a no no for non supporting members.

Do you want to get it gone or return it to action? Two very different things. A "how to repair it" question belongs in a different sub forum.

FWIW, arguing this point with a supporting member, in the thread that they have hilighted to you as breaking the rules is probably not the best move... And you'll notice since my previous post a few other supporting members have chimed in, I would suggest maybe not railing against those who are trying to protect you from yourself.

Mm. Given that this is theoretical - it's not an 'is' - also, it's not something anyone can price-check, because it doesn't exist - I don't see how I'm breaking that rule. I'm currently looking for an Admin to clarify it for me. In terms of contractual speak, I reckon I'm in the grey area with this one.

Thanks to Gorn Captain for explaining that to me. I hadn't actually thought of that; my bad. Still looking to clarify with an Admin the status of my post, though.

Maybe, maybe not, like most things involving people, it will probably depend on the mod, and who has peed in their breakfast today.

And if you follow the link to the memberships page, and note that there is a month to month option, and that you can cancel at anytime...

The thought has occurred to me once or twice, but then I realize I don't need a membership to buy, and bottom line, I'm a pack rat, I don't sell anything...

Get it gone. It's not a case of repair, more refurb. I played a few versions of RBX from around the time this was made, and I like them - but not enough to keep it. I don't have a lot of space here, I have one bass I prefer to use, and so whether it's sat in pieces, or refurbished, it won't really get played.

A bunch of pictures and a post in the Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG] | TalkBass.com section would probably get you some good answers if you want to repair or refurbish it.

If you want to get it gone, I suggest signing up for a supporting membership or sell it elsewhere.

Thanks Gorn. I'm not trying to cause any arguments, pee people off, or break the rules. The chances of me selling it on here are low, because most TB users are in The USA. Unless there was some coincidence (i.e. Someone in WA or TX says "I played that bass once! Ship it over!" or someone in the UK saw the ad, and wanted it) I'd be selling it UK only, and going by word of mouth/local internet networks. For an instrument like this (I can put good stuff in it, but it's still an RBX) I'm not interested in shipping it out of the country... that would definitely push the price up too high for its relative market. Just asking the question of other members. I might delete this and re-post with a more relevant wording.
