Sounds like there isn't much investment, and isn't much to loose. Do it until it isn't fun. I've been in a series of imploding bands and have spent the last few years mainly practicing alone to get getter. I fill my down time with learning to read, theory, etc. I'm doing Ariane Cap's Bass Theory course now...good stuff.Hi all. I have had another band break up after working together for a year. It gets a little frustrating. I have painted myself into a corner where i really don't want to play country or the same ole worn out classic rock as everyone else does anymore. I have jammed twice with these two guys that are so Punk they didn't even know who Steve Harris is!! Fine with me, I rather enjoy playing for myself than for crowds. We are doing Dead Boys, Dead Kennedy's, Buzzcocks etc. Someone once told me to have fun and ride the wave for as long as it lasts. I try to do that.
Problem is two fold: one the guitarist plays in a touring band and can't always be there. The drummer told me in essence he is doing us a favor until we can find a permanent guitarist (two actually). Problem two is the drummer had a car accident years ago where he suffered a brain injury that makes him get tired and need to quit after an hour. If I were being honest I don't see this going anywhere. Really I don't have many goals beside being able to get good and play out locally from time to time. Just ride the wave and continue to scan the horizon for bigger sets? I love the material.
Your first paragraph puts into perspective what I deal with. We may likely be a generation removed from each other, but your position nailed it.Hi all. I hate to sound like a prog elitist, but playing DK doesn't take a ton of skill so you should be able to build a band with guys that are a bit more solid. I think you should consider being the "leader" of the band so you can cater it to your needs and wants.

You're 20?.
I value my time more than anything and always ask myself, "Is there something else I could do with this time?" Doesn't even have to be music related. I might just wanna play Assassin's Creed more.
Hahaha - I hear you. We have that challenge occasionally when the younger kiddies (< 40) get in the band. Still clutching those dreams of stardom, endless energy, etc.
Me? I like to camp, hunt, and go on vacations too! I have worked har, earned it, and have the vacation time and money!!!!
You are old soul...
This DK song may not require a ton of skill for some, but it is a lot of fun to play on bass. Isn't that what it's all about?
This Damned song requires a little more skill
Exactly!Nothing wrong with looking for another project or two if you have the time. IMO you don't even have to leave your current group just yet until you establish something else you can be more engaged in.
