Would you pay $950 for a Squier Precision?

Ask if they’ll take $99 and “exposure” for their custom paint. I got stacks of exposure from years of gigging, but it seems like no one takes that as currency? :rollno:

But those are some cool knobs.

Also, I’ve wondered in the past if it would be cheaper to “sell” a bass on Reverb to use their lower shipping costs, even if you just needed to ship the bass to yourself or a friend in another state?

Last point, I wonder if the seller has a buyer in mind, and listed it at a crazy price knowing no one would pay it, but also knowing once they get the actual agreed upon price from their buyer, they’d accept it and do the transaction through Reverb.

Or they just listed the bass for crazy money to see if anyone accidentally buys it?

Why would you even message them? Just trying to stir it up?

That's a damn nice looking bass and Ive played more than a handful of squiers that yall would pay well over 950 for if I changed out the water slide
Why wouldn't I ask a guitar dealer how they arrived at an asking price for a guitar? No used "B" stock Squier is remotely worth anything near that price, $200 to $250 maybe.
If you like to get ripped off then have it. I was providing a question about actual value and helping fellow musicians see what was going on out there in the market. Someone can overinflate the price of a $200 guitar but that doesn't make it alright or acceptable to ripoff the unsuspecting.

Exactly, cause the only way it gets sold at that price is to an unsuspecting buyer who doesn't know any better and trusts the store is being honest.

It's been for sale on Reverb for over a year and shipping costs are expensive these days Reverb has no hand or control in that.

Ah ok. I know in the past, due to the combination of a “corporate account” with high volume of shipping, as well as “self insuring”, Reverb’s shipping prices they charged sellers were a good $50 cheaper than I’d get if I walked in to UPS or FEDEX and paid full rates plus insurance. With fees now though, that might be a mute point.

No matching headstock?
Typical Fender move.
He really blew it!
Other than that, I seriously doubt he'll even get $700 for it.
Funny thing is, it's not even the most expensive Squier bass on Reverb.
I'm betting there are several with $1,000 plus asking prices.
(By the way, I paid $500 for this used Classic Vibe and some people think that's crazy.)

Yeah those days are over. Reverb puts the shipping on the individual seller and charges a fee plus taxes, but you can't really calculate it because you never know where the buyer will be located or you have the option of charging a flat rate and keep your fingers crossed. In the US anything outside the Lower 48 gets expensive. Bass guitars weigh like boat anchors and shipping isn't cheap.

Everytime I begin to feel ever so slightly less misanthropic I come back and read through a thread like this and find those feelings immediately justified and return tenthfold. The seller is being honest with what he has, if you don't like the asking price too bad, no one is forcing you to purchase it. Isn't that one of the big points of pride and freedom some of you feel so boastful about? If they can find someone whom sees that amount of value in the instrument, then hats of to them. Some of you pay similarly inflated prices for nothing more other than pride fueled bragging rights and a little gold star in the form of a cringe inducing sticker. At least this instrument has some originality and doesn't have "Im a Pretentious Gatekeeper" written all over it.
