Wow, a Joe Dart Bass, but Roasted

Hi guys,
I think you sould have a look at this: Ernie Ball Music Man Joe Dart Bass - Roasted Velvet

No communication from EBMM or Vulf so far, but it's funny to see that there is kind of a "one shot" special version of the JD bass that can be purchased MM online store .. :)

That's actually really nice looking. I never quite got used to the white plastic look on the ash body, for some reason that same knob and chunky MM humbucker in white look like they came off a Fisher Price toy set to me. In black they work though. I don't know why that would be.

Black hardware on darker roasted wood also looks really nice. I think it makes the grain stand out more. Draws your eyes to the darker end of the color spectrum or something.

All the Joe Dart specials have been passive, I think. Not your typical Stingray. The one knob is a volume knob, not even a tone control let alone a preamp.

Seems limiting to me, but then I just don't really get artist signature models anyway. They typically make few enough of these that they'll all sell anyway, it's not designed to be a widely appealing model.

This version does look a lot better than the other versions though. I'll give it that.

Funny story - when Steve Wishnevsky first started out I ordered a custom Peanut fretless 6 with a truss rod and tone pot. The truss rod was functional. The tone pot did nothing lol. Typical Wish move. Was overall a decent bass for $600. One too many strings.

You mean you ordered a 6 string and he made a 7 string? Or you wished you had only ordered 5 when you got it?

I've never seen one of those in real life but I've seen pictures and read stories. Seems like each one is unique, with its own charms and flaws. Definitely more character and personality than your big standard P bass, though maybe less practical in most situations.
