Wow... Golf...

So, lately me and some friends have gotten into going to the driving range and messing around a bit, and we always had a good time. Today we decided to actually play the game.

After getting used to the procedure, we moved right along and had a great time. I think we may start doing this more often. The only problem is that it isn't very wallet-friendly. Oh well, i have a job, right?

is anyone else addicted to golf? I always thought it seemed like an extremely dull and boring sport. Definately not!

ME! Welcome to the world of golf. Such a rewarding and frustrating sport all at once. Few things beat the feeling of nailing a 300 yard drive straight as an arrow down a tree lined fairway, or hitting a chip shot out of the bunker to save par. It's what keeps me coming back.

It now occupies first place on my list of hobbies, where bass used to be. I've sold bass gear to acquire golf gear. I play at least twice a week. Now that I quit my job, I'm going to try and play everyday.

paying for golf without having a job? I couldn't do it. It'd run me to bankruptcy :hmm:

but yeah, me and my friends are going again today. We're going to try a place thats a bit cheaper: $10/person + $14 for the cart. Since a cart holds 2 people, it should be about 17 a person.

I love golf and get out whenever I can. There's nothing better than a great shot on a beautiful day.

This year I've only made it out about 4 times or so, but am going again next weekend...I can't wait. I may have to get out a bit sooner, just for the heck of it.

Sometimes I'll even go out by myself just to see who I get matched up with. It's interesting to see the people you get matched with...I've made some good friends that way.

Love golf, but at the same time I hate it. Got really addicted last year. Have a good short game but i've got a nasty slice on the driver so needless to say it stays in the bag. Thought about playing an entire round with a 7 iron and a putter. Would probably get the same score and save on lost golf balls! Went down to southern IL last week and played three different courses. Very nice.

I used to play in high school.. and I've played a few times recently..

I love how you can shoot crap all day long... and then have like ONE BEAUTIFUL shot that just makes the whole day worth it....

Last time I was playing, it was during an 18-hole shotgun tournament.. we started 2, so we ended on 1... I got up and hit a T-shot that was about 240 or so.. not bad for a hacker... right down th emiddle of the fairway... gorgeous.. *L*

THAT, my friends, is why you play golf...

I think there is nothing more beautiful than a well-hit golf shot, whether it's a tee shot, an approach or a great putt.

I friend of mine just bought a condo on the course where I used to play a lot. Her back deck over looks the spot where I made the shot of my life. About 120 yards out, pin is protected by a bunker. Narrow green, not much room to roll. Nine iron just seemed to hang in the air forever, then hit just on the front edge of the bunker and rolls to within three inches of the cup.

Enjoy. It is the dame of a lifetime, especially if you hook up with a group that you play with regularly for years. Also, leagues are a lot of fun and force you to play on a redular basis.

Welcome to the world of Golf. I try to play about 3 times a week. Out here though there is a lot of business done on the course, I've gotten more gigs playing golf than from hanging out at jams and whatnot. Love it, bought new clubs this year that i love.

I think Mark Twain said golf is "a good walk ruined". and my mom always used to say "golf if hours of frustration interrupted by moments of sheer brilliance". Either way, I love it. hmm, now where to make a tee time for tomorrow.

My brother calls it 'chasing a white ball and feeling quite frustrated about it'

Another friend calls it 'A futile attempt at placing an insignificant pellet into an obscure hole with inadequate weapons.'

My embarrasing golf story...
Teeing off on the 1st hole. Bunch of people standing around waiting as it was quite a busy day.
I completly whiff on my swing, just grazing the top of the ball, which shoots straight at the tee block, rebounds, and drills me right in the...golf bag. :help: :bawl:

Nice.
