Wow... Golf...

What a lot of people tend to forget is that Driving is not that important in a game of golf. The second shot is though. If you slice off the tee then try a 3 wood. You should have enough of a selection to hit the green with a low iron. Also on an average course there are at least 2 or 3 par 3's. No driver there...
Basically dont waste all your practice time at the range driving the ball. Use your low irons they will help you a lot more than an excellent drive ever could.
I am fortunate in that I am surrounded by some of the best courses in the world. Played Carnoustie once and one of the bigger St Andrews ones (not the Old Course). I think I used my driver like 4 times all together on both those courses and came out quite well.
I won our works Golf tourney this year and its like the only silverware I have ever had in my house
Usually hit mid to low 80's but I hit a 90 that day with a 20 handicap. So won with a net 70 on a course I have only played once before. Very chuffed with myself

just some crappy small place in East Greenbush call Pheasant Hollow... the guy who owns it is a real hick but he has great prices. $10 for 18 holes on tuesdays and thursdays and only $14 per cart.
Any golf course is a good golf course. If you ever get up to Saratoga the course at the State Park is actually pretty good.FunkSlap89 said:
Here's another great golf memory. I played a round with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash at McGregor Links in Saratoga when it was the best course around. That was before Saratoga National was built.

haha, yeah i did go in there i think i saw that bass. I was mostly checking out their guitars because they're the only place in the area that carries the Seagull Acoustics. Its a really cool store, as is Last Vestige.
Well, I guess I can share an embarassing story from today.
Keep in mind it has been several years since I last picked up a golf club.
I go to the first tee, and there are a couple of guys behind us. I tell them to go ahead, thinking they'd be much faster than I would be. They were waiting on some more of their friends, though, so I wound up teeing off first.
So I put the ball on the tee, take a few practice swings, and get ready to drive the ball. I line up my shot, wind up, and swing away...
and whiffed.
They guys behind us got a good chuckle out of it, then tried to help me with my grip on the club. So I tried again and hit the ball. Unfortunately, I only hit the tip of the ball, so it popped off the tee and rolled about 20 feet before coming to a stop.
We suggested we start at the 3rd hole so we wouldn't hold the guys behind us up too badly, and they bid us good luck. So we make our way to the third hole, and I do the same exact thing at the tee. I was feeling pretty dejected at this point, but I decided to at least make it onto the green. Oddly enough, by the time I got the ball in the hole (took 6 strokes, I do believe), the guys that started behind us had already passed us.
The next hole is where I started to get back into my groove. I hit a nice tee shot into the middle of the fairway, but my next shot took a bad slice into the woods.
The rest of the day went fairly similar. I got a par on the two Par 3 holes, some bogeys, and a bunch of other scores, but by the end of the day I was having so much fun I couldn't care less what the score was.

I took a friend golfing a few weeks ago for the first time. As we were teeing off on one of the holes, the course marshal comes by and tells my buddy that he can't tee off on the womens tees. He replies back to him..."this is my second shot".

That marshall was all wet anyway. The true etiquette is that you should play from the red, or beginner tees, until you can shoot par from there. Then you move to the white, or intermediate, until you can shoot par from there and you move to the blue, or expert tee, etc. If we did it the way it was meant to be done the game would move faster and many people would enjoy it more.MJ5150 said:Nice. I just got back from my adventure...
when we got there, there was torrential (sp?) downpoaring which ended just in time for us to tee off. Hooray! even though we were already wet...
anyway, we made our way through the course losing several balls and having to venture into the woods to find some more. We only paid for 9 holes because we found out that the $10 for 18 holes is a deal only for senior citizens.
So, it was $10 for 9 holes that we got through in about 3 hours. It was quite pathetic, but we all had a good time and laughed at each others mistakes and all that good stuff.
