Wow!! How did that happen?

so what went wrong? was he lacking belief? did he misread 'serpents' as 'venomous serpents'? because he was bitten instead of drinking the deadly thing, i.e. poison?

what will the true believers say?

It might go something like this:

"Do not put the Lord your God to the test,..." Deuteronomy 6:16

Jesus said unto him, “It is written again: ‘Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.’” Matthew 4:7

A fellow was undecided what he should do with his life. Suddenly a light bulb went off; he'd get his answer from the Good Book. So he shuts his eyes, randomly opens it, and sticks his finger on the page. He opens his eyes and his finger is pointing to the words: "And Judas went and hanged himself". Hmmm, he thinks, how interesting. So he tries again. He closes his eyes, opens to another page, sticks his finger down, opens his eyes, and reads; "Go thou and do likewise"

This story reminds me of the time I received a phone call telling me my wife had been bitten by a cobra.
I was advised not to worry though as the vets practice said it was touch and go but they thought the snake would survive!

I'll have to remember this one!

Almost anything taken out of context (or purposely given an alternate meaning) can be harmful or fatal.

Astonished at the message he was getting, he hesitated, and decided to try one more time. He closed his eyes, flipped the Bible open to a random page and read again:

"What you do, do quickly."
