It's a primarily American term- if I'm not mistaken, meaning *I did something remarkably silly*

Edit: If you- being a lady- were physically capable of stepping on your own ****, that would be- unusal.

I gathered you might not be familiar w/the phrase. You seem to have a better grasp of English than many native speakers, BTW. No comment on "man thing" being good or bad... perhaps if we were in OT.
