Wow! My record is making the 2011 lists big time.

Claudia Lewis and New Map are definitely my favorite songs of the record. Claudia Lewis in particular reminds me of Radiohead's "Airbag" for whatever reason, using bass as a highlighter and making it stand out and sound phenomenal.
Been listening to the m83 album and it has so many intriguing elements to it...I find it flows beautifully from one song to the next..mood wise it evokes such a neat plethora of emotions. I found myself responding strongly to the moods created by the different layers found in the tunes and the order as well...for example "OK Pal" really ""elevates" my mood at perfect point in the listening experience of the whole album.
I was playing the album on my smartboard as my Eighth Grade students came into my Social Studies classes today and they had a lot of questions about who it was...cool that THEY might be digging music that evokes great feelings and is artistic in nature...thanks JMJ and m83.

I might be a bit off topic...
...but I always wanted to remind everyone how PERFECT Justin's bassline to "Paper Tiger" is off of Beck's Sea Change.
Perfect groove, perfect tone, perfect thickness, perfect old school 70's feel, perfect overdrive...and the little run that doubles the orchestra is icing on the cake.

How the hell did you get that perfect 70's tone on that??!??!??!!? It's literally a time warp back to a time when bass was ALWAYS heard.
Really glad I stumbled upon this thread, I listened to Hurry Up, We're Dreaming a lot over the last month I was at sea for work. Definitely a killer album, I had Claudia Lewis on repeat just listening to that bass tone.

+1 on all the accolades. My 5yr old daughter LOVES this album (not that I don't of course)! I think if JMJ and Anthony got together to make a children's album, they'd make quite a hit 
One question that I have is about the whole idea of emulation vs. innovation. There's obviously a ton of innovation here without a doubt. But I think the 80s nostalgia is pretty undeniable. Was this part of the thought process from the get-go? Were any specific references brought into the process?

Oh yeah, plenty of references from the "golden decade" were discussed. As were films, art, geographic locales, architecture, travel, food, trauma, remarkable experiences, love, etc. etc.
Yes, there were specific references, and it goes song by song, but they were never something to hang our hat on. Usually just mentioned once during a song's process, then forgotten. I could give you a list, but I do believe that may spoil part of the intrigue of this album.

M83 tonight at my local killer venue. I never would have gone to this show if I hadn't stumbled across this thread, had my first listen, and then kept the album on repeat for a solid 2 weeks.

Man I've been listening to Anthony's stuff for about 5 years now. I absolutely love the new album and didn't actually realize that was you on there with him. Well done man. Its amazing how all the songs on this album still hold up to Kim and Jesse and all of the other older great m83 songs.
