Used mine on a rehearsal last night with electric bass through an 8 ohm Darkglass cabinet. It definitely performed much better than it did with upright. It'll be fine for rehearsals for however long it lasts, convenient since it can fit in the gig bag.

I carry my BAM200 in the same case as my Quilter BB800. Very convenient.

I got one of the: "new new wrapped in Plastic" ones and so far so good.

Short practice through a GB Focus 112 8ohm - applying the EQ guidance above - was very nice...
On one hand this would be a great backup...

Amazon came early. Plugged it in. It is relatively loud and the tone is very vanilla. There is no magic to the amp. I've only played around for the last ten minutes. I rattled the windows but it sounds like a clean amp with nothing exciting about it. For the price, I would keep it but I have some other options fo i'm on the fence. But because i'm reading about all these strange things, I would turn around if I left the if I forgot to turn it off.

The Amazon refurb warehouse could have tested these first and have faulty units repaired rather than reselling. I marked the amp with white perm maker saying BAD OUTPUT, so they don't resell them again unless fixed
I once purchased a brand new TC BAM200 around the first quart of 2020, just before the COVID... I was happy with the BAM200, and later I've discovered the Gnome from Warwick.
At first sight, it looked the very same hardware piece with a different shell and colors. But later I found the Gnome more pleasing to my ears, and despite having the same power output numbers, the EQ section of the Gnome seems more effective. But I could have purchased the BAM200 again, anytime, no complaints...

Did you get the US voltage or EU? Thomann has great prices but only the EU units and they don't seem switchable. I heard the same review about the matching 208 cabs- I love the TC28 but the Warwick has a horn and I great sounds great.
US voltage, actually I purchased all the amps ( TC and Warwick ) from Sweetwater and Cream City Music thru Ebay. You'll be well served with both amps and both stores, great prices and support so far.
Well, guys, mine's going back. It sounds defective. It has a static-y "buzz" no matter what I'm playing through it. Not a good distortion or anything - even at low volume, it sounds scratchy. I was looking for a clean portable backup amp - this unit isn't it.

If you don't mind - could you share any info on the serial number?
Mine is still going great - it gets hot, but I had it on a foam skid pad and that was a mistake on my part - limiting air flow.
Thought is the we might be able to share/find the "dead zone" by SN.
And I did save all the packaging...so I got that going for me.

Seems the Warwick Gnome or the GK Demo stock is a better call for a sub $250 head. Before they disappeared, the Eden Terra Nova 226 was a superb value.
Agreed. I sold my Gnome and do regret it a bit. Great amp. Clean, powerful, with a great EQ. I haven't looked into it, but I have a feeling it may be a much more flat starting point with all the knobs at noon versus the BAM and some others.

I'd be tempted by an iGnome at 280W@4Ohms if it was sufficiently clean to also potentially use in something close to FRFR situations. I wish they'd put an effects loop on the thing.
Dude go for it. It is a REALLY great amp. I don't know what the actual guts are in there regarding compression, eq, etc, but I have had the Elf, BAM200, and the Gnome iPro, and the Gnome is the only one that feels like a 500w+ amp when played at medium/moderate volume levels.
Both the Elf and Bam seem to have quite a bit more limiting or compression of some sort built-in... maybe it's just a more aggressive HPF with higher set point or stronger roll-off, I don't know. When playing those two, digging in and really attacking the strings doesn't give you the corresponding increase in thump/weight/heft that you would experience with a bigger amp with plenty of headroom on tap. Now, that being said if you LIKE that, GREAT! That's the amp for you! I don't.
I'm not sure if I said it in this thread or not already, but the Gnome very much feels and sounds like running my Legacy 800 clean. I even EQ them similarly, with a fair amount of high end roll off, and sometimes a little bit of mid roll-off as well, depending on the bass. Lows flat or barely boosted. The GK naturally has a touch more upper mid presence with the EQ flat, but other than that they are pretty darn close to each other.
Dangit..... now I'm going to text the friend to whom I sold the Gnome and tell him that if he ever sells it, I want to buy it back. As I sit here typing this all out I realize more and more how much I really enjoyed that thing!
I hear you on the FX loop. I would pay more if they would dump the USB interface and put an FX loop in there instead!
