Hah, i was just about to post about it. With a blend knob.
Waw my wish came true very quickly. I had just emailed them asking for this. Of course, I also asked for top jacks.

"Unfortunately, the bass comp uses a totally different circuit board that incorporates more changes than just the clean blend. So this means it's not really possible to just tack it on to the regular gold comp without a lot of wires and trace cutting etc. Essentially, you'd have to butcher the whole board.

I replied asking what the changes were - they say it is "revoiced" for bass on the instagram teaser, so hopefully they'll relate what that means exactly.
I hope the production one puts the side knob on top. There's really no excuse for it. Also, top jacks but they're just being stubborn on that at this point.
You are right there is no excuse. It would be one thing if the existing circuit could be modded easily but that required a blend on the side. But apparently that's not the case and a blend requires a re-design. Executing said re-design and still putting extra crap sticking out the side is pretty ridiculous.
Different strokes for different folks. I personally prefer side jacks. Blend on top would be nice but I honestly don't care, especially if it sounds great. I'm more annoyed by odd power requirements or needlessly large enclosures.

Just gigged the gold comp and man, I absolutely LOVE the tone of it. I do wish it had a blend for better dynamic range; needless to say I am anxiously awaiting the release of the bass version
But. I'm really hoping they didn't change the circuit much beyond the blend - I fear the "re-voiced" "for bass" thing is going to diminish the magic that this version brings

Yeah, hopefully it isn't like the Suppa Phuk story, where they cleared changed out some of the magic.
I've not heard diddly back yet either.
I just watched a NAMM demo of it. He said that the blend will most likely get moved to the top. And that they put a lot of work into this version of the comp, the bass comp. and that it also will have the phat phuk circuit in it as well. Whoa baby! He also said he's 90% sure the street price will be $249 or so.
