XBox 360 -- what game next?

if you're aiming that at me, the last RRoD (when I tossed my system) happened about 2 years ago. I assure you though, I was not mistreating my console.

and no, microsoft is nowhere NEAR "great" about fixing or replacing failed units, it's a friggin minefield of CS calls with hours on hold and lots of disinterested and accusatory reps trying to convince you to agree up front to pay for the repairs yourself. At least it was from about the time the RRoDs started appearing up until the time I gave up on the jerks.

My bouts with the rrod have been handled very well by MS. There was none of the issues you describe here. not one. There was no minefield, no sitting on hold, no problems with the reps. The only issue was waiting the 3 weeks to get a new machine.

which honestly just irritates me even more to hear. :p There was actually one time where I went weeks without sending in for the repair because every time I called (roughly once a day) I waited for literally HOURS on hold and would end up having to give up in order to go about my day.

It wasn't aimed at you but people in general who've had multiple failures. Of course, some people (like yourself) are just unlucky, but many others mistreat their gear (same with guitars, cars, phones, etc...) and then complain and say they have no clue why their stuff no longer works properly.

And from my experiences, Microsoft has been great. Both times I've called them they set me straight with no hassle after they ran through a quick troubleshoot with me (even when one Xbox was out of warranty).

I'm sorry your experiences have been different and I definitely am not attacking you personally, but I hate it when people make Microsoft out to horrible when they really aren't. I wouldn't blame them for being hard on you if you've had over 3 Xboxes fail. They probably began thinking you were doing something wrong and it wasn't their system, which (lets be honest here) is more than reasonable.

I don't know man, did you get the system at launch? It was seriously like a 1-in-3 sort of situation there for about a year or two for RRoD. Seems pretty reasonable that many people would get multiple system failures on a regular basis just based on the odds. Pretty much everyone I knew (and at that time I had a pretty wide net of "gamer friends") went through at least 3 in those first couple of years. One friend of mine had to get 6 repairs in the first year alone and then finally decided to go buy a "non launch" system and never had another problem. He didn't change anything about his situation or how he played, just got crap system after crap system.

The problem was that they weren't actually doing anything but replacing the warped bits with the same piece and sending them back out... So if your machine failed you just got someone else's machine that had already failed once with the same flawed parts in it that were probably going to have the same problem again, and then when SURPRISE it happened again they act like it must be your fault since you've gone through more than one system. As the problem went on you were actually MORE and MORE likely to get a problem console when you sent in for repairs, since you were still in the pool of rotating systems that had the worst problems.

yeah, I hope my little tangent doesn't look like trolling, I just got sucked into the conversation... I did give my opinion that he should be playing Portal though. I'm not sure what else there is to say on the subject of the OP, I think every decent game has pretty much been mentioned multiple times no?

I am curious though which games are you leaning towards Lokire?

The reason is the power supply only.

The fix was switching from 14.2 amperes to 12 amp power supplies. That is what caused the over heating. All new units now come with 12 only. It basically fried the video card.
