XLR out on a reasonably priced combo amp

After the OP's more detailed reply on his playing situation, and given that he likes the idea of the Ampeg SCR-DI, I was thinking that he might as well consider the Ampeg BA combos (BA115 or BA210) ... but then I realized that they also only have line outs, vs a true DI. Again, not a big deal as long as you know how your amp works, but still somewhat limiting if you are a knob twiddler during gigs.

To those advocating pre-EQ DI, why would that be any better than just a standalone DI ?
FWIW, I have used a Mesa Walkabout for years and have been totally satisfied with its post-EQ only DI .. as have all sound techs and recording engineers who have worked with the input from the WA. Just saying that pre-EQ DI is not the only way to go.

Correct. Pre is not the only way. Post is not the only way.
Hence my suggestion to find something with Pre/Post,
Some folks don’t even like that on their amps. They get a separate D.I. that covers their needs.
All is cool if it serves what you need/want.
The sound person can always mic the cab too, if they want.

The bottom line I get from my experience with my Rumble 500 combo, and the Rumble posts linked here, is that Master Volume changes are less than feared, sometimes not even noticed, and the post EQ is often appreciated by veteran soundmen.

Thanks for posting that. Lots of good info and insight to what the Rumbles are all about.
Lots of cool pics as well. Everyone should check this out.

I have no issue with post everything D.I. but I also like the idea of Pre as well.
That way you have the best of both worlds.

I also don’t abide by others (not you) telling me what features I should and shouldn’t like.
Recommendations with explanations are one thing, but when I get “it’s my way or the highway” attitude and told in no uncertain terms that my way of thinking is wrong, that’s where I draw the line.

The arguments you bring to the conversation are thoughtful and respectful. I appreciate that.
