Xotic x-blender powering problem

Hi peepz

I bought me an x-blender a few days ago and yesterday evening I finally had the chance to test the unit.

I really loved this "effect".... when it worked...

There seemed to be a problem powering the pedal. In blend mode, the sound kept distorting at first disappearing afterwards. Both bypass mode and full on effect mode seemed to function normally. Usually, moving the adapter plug helped restore the blended sound... for about twenty seconds.

I used both of my 9-volt adapters (1spot and boss 9volt) and with both the problem occurred.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

edit: maxing out the blend knob to either side seemed to make the sound distort or disappear immediately.

Took until now to get it repaired :O...

Hooked it up this evening, plugged in the cables... and WHAM!
*michael jackson's voice coming out of my speakers*

The blending itself works perfectly. However, When I turn on the blend function, I hear the local radio station in my signal... This is really disappointing :/.

Hi Bongomania, thanks for chiming in.

I even get radio when blending in an "empty loop". It's not really loud so when you're playing, you're hardly hearing it. But when you listen really carefully, you can hear radio signals. Phase invertion knob makes radio sound louder.

All that's in there currently is an octave down overdrive (granny puker), a phaser (maxon pt 999) and an envelope follower (groove regulator) which I use fairly frequently. The overdrive can do some noisyness on high gain, but it never attacked me with pop tunes before so I'm guessing it's the blender :D.

Also, it ain't the amp. Current amp is the most silent amp I ever played through (if you forget about the fan noise).

As a guess, maybe when they repaired the pedal they didn't realize there were two things wrong with it. Like they replaced the power jack but didn't fix a ground fault, something like that.

Joy...

I guess it'll be en route for another two months :crying:...

Not trying to bash Xotic though. I still believe they are a fine firm and every brand has it's dummies...

Hey did you ever get it back? I just got a new x-blender that produces a kind of soft static like noise when the blend is engaged. Like a dope I waited until after the the 7 day return policy to take it out of the box and test it(Magdon music on ebay). Xotic agreed to "try to minimize the noise" under warranty but if it's going to take months to get it back I'm gonna be very unhappy. Maybe Magdon will bend their rules for me.
