Xsonics 212cf review and comparison

Thats good news.. What is the weight of the 212>> Sorry if it was posted already... Also IIRC the Eden 410 had a nice bottom.. Can this do that too?

in my opinion the xsonics 212cf has all the output of a modern 410 cab , say gk neo 410 , Eden 410 xlt but it has all the great qualities of a really good 212 the aggressiveness you get by digging in and so on . I was looking for a one cab solution and where the lil g fell short the xsonics was able to give me all I need and then some . I am sorry some cant accept that ,it is what it is. I would like to try the xsonics 215cf but since I have had more experience with 210 cabs the xsonics 210cf will probably the next cab I buy . I have always tried to push the smaller cabs to their limits and also in doing so save my back in the same respect.

To me there is something about running a cab up close to its limits.. You have a point.. They get a growl that can be real cool.. Or maybe its just my pant legs flappin:D

A (Glasstone) sample could be sent off to Tom B. and Bass Gear Magazine? It would get some exposure for the relatively new cab and could be given a thorough *independent* going over with proper testing etc. The performance of the B string at high volume could be tested too.

Thread cleaned *again* of the same argumentative nonsense. Infractions handed out.

Here's where this thread is: a casual comparison was done between a first generation Glasstone and an Xsonics cab. The person doing the comparison preferred the Xsonics cab and sold the Glasstone. In my estimation, he did not cast any aspersions on the Glasstone, just preferred the other cab. As another poster has noted, the Xsonics spoken of in this thread is a current model and the Glasstone was a first generation model. We don't know if either cab was defective, and there is no evidence of this either way. At this point, we'll never know, but what is clear to me is that the OP had no agenda or any idea that the cab was in any way not representative of the current offering, and offered his review in good faith.

At this point, several horses have been killed and beaten repeatedly after death about other people having agendas. That stops now. I think sending a current version of either of both of these cabs to BG mag for a review would be an excellent idea (Perhaps we can refer to such a result as "Bowlus' Iron Review?"). In any case, this thread needs to stay clear of this pointless and repeated bickering that has plagued it so far. I would be thrilled if - as the OP has suggested he now wishes he had done - the conversation be limited to a discussion of the cab that he preferred in this case, but that is beyond my control. What is not beyond my control or the control of the moderators is this: any revival of the same old bickering back and forth that has plagued this thread twice already will be summarily infracted. If you see any of this, please report it and do not reply. Last, please don't refer to this post in the thread, as it only serves to inflame a sore situation - please just continue the conversation in a civilized manner according to the site rules. :)

Awesome. Hey SVTB15, i have the 2155cf and did a short gig review. I only wish I could play it side by side with the 212cf. My understanding it's tonally very similar, maybe a little less grind, and more beef. I can say it does have beef......and chicken, and any other meat. It is like 49lbs - I walked from the parking lot to gig with it in one hand, amp in other and gig bag on back one trip in. I mean, a 2x15! Pretty good cab in my estimation, but as always it will not be for everyone. I put it in the "old school with sparkle" camp that has been mentioned several times now, think it is a good description. Now back to the 212cf and on topic.

i know this is a 212 thread but have you tried the 215 yet// Someone somewhere beside Dennis Micheals must have...
Also Xonics 212, What other cab could you compare it to as far as volume that you are used to in the past? a 410 or 610... Is it more Sealed cab tightness or ported cab type tone....

Are my views experiences not valid Kirk? The 215 exists because of me. There is also a video or two posted as are the 212 and 210

Nick the Xsonics guy let me play test a 212CF, 215CF and 2155CF at his home studio over a couple diet Dr. Peppers.:D. I brought both my heads - a GB Shuttlemax 9.2 and my backup Carvin BX1500 along with my Lakland 5502. I owned a Sunn 215 and Coliseum head back in the day and did many a gig with that combo. The 215CF and 2155CF got crazy loud and stayed tight. One Xsonics 215 is easily louder than 2 Sunn 215's ever could have got cause I used 2 once in a while and an Ampeg fridge is silly by comparison. The 212cf box out performed the GB212 Neo that was sitting there too. I play some big places and I could have went with the 215 or 2155 but there was no need. The 212cf was perfect for me and I didn't see why to spend more on a bigger and more expensive box.

When you say "out performed" what do you mean? Was it louder? More present mid range? Better low end? Or just personal tonal preference?

The GB212 is a pretty good reference point for comparison. Widely available, doesnt suck, and comparitive price point. What do you find the strengths of the CF to be in comparison? Is there anything that appeals to you about the GB over the CF?

Because it is soooo cool!! :p:bassist: I think the 212cf may end up being the most popular from Xsonics offerings, but there will be alot of happy 15 lovers out there into such a light and loud cab.

Would anyone who owns the 212cf also call it " Old School with sparkle ? " I'm interested in this cab to use in a traditional Blues band that gets a little funky occaisionally. The 215CF would be a little too large in this gig situation.

I'm not sure what there is about this post that you guys didn't understand, but, clearly you don't get it.

+1 Two more "neo-sniping" posts removed. The next post that even hints at sniping gets infracted. Much as I hate to resort to moderating with such a heavy hand, I hate to let the Amps sub forum remain as the most toxic forum on TB even more. This has gone on for too long.

And just for clarity of language, when a poster gives a vague description like "out performed", that is a a subjective opinion. While it's permissible to ask for clarification or more details on such an opinion, the person who stated it may simply "feel that he/she liked it better", and that's OK; there may not be a way to quantify that feeling, and at that point, it's up to the readers to consider the source as with any statement of subjective opinion. We all know what opinions are like and who has them (including our own).

Nice. If that was the NeoX 212T cab your speakin of; awesome. Cause I used a single NeoX 212T with Streamliner 900 for abunch of gigs all last summer; some outdoors no PA for bass in 5pc Tx blues-rock band.

Then the 212CF; just a tweet no mid, correct? That could be a great, lighter, louder 212 cab for my gigs this coming summer. :bassist: Will be watching this thread more than ever now; more cab info, less drama. Always a plus. :smug:

It was a GB 212T NX2 at Xsonics. The newer model. No brainer for me. The 212CF got louder than the NX2 and stayed tighter on my B-string and it was half the size and like 5 pounds lighter. It came with a cover so I bought it on the spot. Probably 20 gigs with it by now and it's the bomb! Two 12's with a tweeter.:bassist:
