I was wondering how these cabs would work for folks who needed to do more slap and get more crisp highs out of their rigs. I find the tweeter very nonpronounced in my cab, which works great for me with classic rock, blues, modern country and some folk. With the tweet upgrade and the already solid sound of these it should work out great for you, and I look forward to your opinion once installed.

With the band passing of that second driver, you get that nice low mid meat of the old XLT cabs, but it does make the cab a bit less 'bright sounding up top for slap. The tweeter will add some 'click' to the top end, but probably a bit hard to get that key upper midrange response that is key for a slap top end to not be eaten up by cymbals and keyboards in a mix.

Not sure if the tweeter swap will fix that, but it will make that very upper treble a bit louder, which might work for you.

He is crossed over at ~3.7k. The upgraded tweeter will give more volume but not too much tonal difference as Nick explained. The stock tweeter does work great for people like myself that don't want a ton of volume in that higher range, though with my cab in 3way I can almost turn the tweet off and the 5" really carries anything I need up there, very smoothly also.
Stock tweeter = 100dB 1W/1m
Tweet Upgrade = 105dB 1W/1m

Your right Gab. Nick from Xsonics told me the crossover is set just below 4K which is partially why I thought this cab would still work for me. I like to boost between 4K-6K for the zing that works for me.

He also told me the tweeter upgrade to the Eminence APT-80 will add 5 db over the stock one. I thought I read 3 db increase somewhere but I was corrected. I should have the replacement tweeter by early next week if not this Friday.

Coincidentally, I have the loudest gig I typically do without PA support coming this Friday. I'm curious to see how the 212CF holds up. I pretty much maxed out my Eden D410XLT4 or my Bergantino AE410 on this gig every time. Never together though. I think this little cab that could will pull it off. I'm going to bring the AE410 just in case but hopefully leave it in the car.

I ordered my Xsonics 2125 CF and I can't wait to get it so I can give it a run thru this weekend. Nick is great to deal with, he answers every question and went out of his way to get the cab to me quickly. Both weekend gigs are just the right type of venues for me to give this cab a great workout. Not to big and not to small I should get a real good sense of the 2125 CF mussel by the end of the weekend. I will have a FOH feed thru our QSC K-sub as per usual, but the stage volume and feel are crucial since I play with a brilliant but loud drummer! Can I get a number?

You should have no problems with any drummer and that cab. What are you planning on using for an amp?

I will soon be getting a 212cf also, and was wondering what heads everyone is using with these cabs? I'd like to get a 5lb, 500 watt head because , right now, I only have a Carvin BX1500 , rackmounted, that I usually use with my larger rig. Thinking about a MarkBass F1, or maybe an LM800. Will 500 watts be enough for this cab ? Pretty much gonna use it on a lower volume, Blues gig I do once a month, but possibly other gigs. I've tried the various Genz heads and don't really care for them too much; I seem to be more comfortable with the MarKbass EQ. Want to keep it a light as I can, preferably gig bag size.

I would check out the Aguilar TH500. Most of the Markbass amps strike me as pretty lack luster in terms of tone, and the TH knocks it out of the park. Additionally having a sweapable mid is very nice for dialing in the punch you want room to room.

If you dug the F1, its replacement, the Big Bang, has been getting very good reviews. Good price value, VERY small, and from the reviews posted so far, it hammers harder than the F1 and has a bit more bite to it. I would also think the VPF filter would be useful with these cabs in small amounts, given the tonal reviews above.

Yeah, that one is definitely worth a look. I had the pedal version of it years ago with a 1500 watt power amp, but, man, it was really overkill. The slightest adjustment seemed to increase the effect twice over ! Never got used to the EQ. I've had the MB F1 before and it was different from the other MB heads in that it had a very punchy tone right out of the box. Maybe an F500 which has the sweepable mid control ? Hard to find one though !

I'll be using my GB SM 9.2 which seems to be a good match according to what I've been reading here. And while i'm at it I'd like to thank all of you who have posted on this thread for your knowledge, the sound bites and reviews, it made my decision to go with Xsonics a lot easier.

The 9.2 has a lot of EQ power, and can pair nicely with just about any cab. I know Nick said he had really good results with the Streamliner too. I would see the balance between the Streamliner and the Xsonics to be pretty good.

I think running a head with a sweep able mid is a really good idea at least with the 212cf . I had the GK MB800 head when I first got mine and couldn't really dial in the mids I wanted , I ended up getting a GB Shuttle 9.2 and really like the ability to shift the mid frequency to where my ear likes it best. I would be interested to see how it would sound with the aguilar TH500 , that head has always peaked my interest.

How would you compare the F500 to the Tone Hammer ?
