Yamaha bb2000 bass at my school?

My school has 2 yamaha bass guitars I was thinking of asking if they were to sell/trade for it is it a good bass compared to my vintage modified jazz bass?
Hope I don't sound silly
Could use a set up
Missing a knob
And definitely

Yup, looks like a 2000 - grab it if you can (I have one- and also a 3000 & 5000).

Yes looks like a BB2000 to me. Kind of a BB1200 with an additional neck pickup. Was good enough for Paul McCartney and Peter Hook (1200s) and:
Michael Anthony - Van Halen; Andy Rourke - The Smiths; Abe Laboriel Sr..
The preamp on the active ones was made by Alembic. But the active ones have an "s" besides the number and three more control knobs for mids/lows/highs.
Very serious basses. Not to talk bad about the Squier for the money it costs, but I would give 3 of the Squiers for one of those Yamahas in a second.
