Yamaha BB300

Our producer was the guitarist in Bad Lieutenant with Bernard Sumner, so some of the New Order stuff was in the studio.
The trouble with the old MIJ BBs is the price these days. I used to have a BB3000S, a BB1100 and BB350F. If I wanted to buy the BB3000S now, I'd be paying a grand for it. Stunning bass, I really miss it.
I guess I am a little late to this party, but I wanted to add my 2c for what it is worth. As you can see in my avatar, I still have my BB300 that was purchased used in 1987. I believe when I checked the serial # a while back, it was either an '84 or '85 model. First thing I noticed other than the tuners was that the knobs are not correct for the early-mid 80's, as all I have seen like mine have speed knobs, not the domed metal ones it looks like these have. This bass has been a go to for over 25 years, and I have never had anything whatsoever done to it, not even a setup. It has never needed it. ROCK SOLID. I take that back, this year I cleaned the pots for the first time with De-Oxit. Can't bring myself to even change out the pickups for fear of messing it up. Man was I lucky to have bought this way back when. I will never sell it. Enough of my rambling, enjoy your twins.

If you keep looking you can find some bargains. I bought a 1100s, MIJ, for £250 and Guitarguitar had a one for the same price recently. These are fantastic by the way. If you get a chance to buy one, jump on it!
Can anyone tell me if the 90's versions are heavy or relatively moderate weight? I don't mind a little weight but don't want a bass that's HEAVY. Thanks guys! 
I think it's just down to individual basses. I have three older ones and one is really heavy, one is really light and one is in between ... wasn't this a story about a wolf and little red riding hood - oh, never mind that was three bears and goldilocks I'm thinking of. Though I have heard the the brand new versions (that just came out recently) are a lot lighter than the older ones.

Thanks for your comment. The Yamaha is ins really good condition and priced within my budget. Getting that itchy trigger finger....
My first real bass was a Yamaha BB300, and a red one too! I also bought it in the 80s when I was a young man with a full head of mullet hair. I'll say the one on the right is from the 80s.
