It's (I'm told) an '80s Yamaha MBIIIG Motion. The previous owner defretted it and looks to have done a great job.

Thank you. It arrived today and it's a beauty. Nice and light. Feels really good. The seller said it was short scale but it's medium 32.5". Still its really nice.

The only thing I'm not crazy about are the pickups. They're really low output.

I am considering changing them out for some humbuckers. Any suggestions on what set to install?

Well, I'm not the most-knowledgeable person on the boards, but I'm wondering if the thumb rest and ashtray cover are aftermarket items. I can't remember ever seeing any of those items on an RBX.

Longtime TRB-6 player, and just pulled the trigger on a used BB415 in solid orange; close to my TRBs translucent orange on ash finish. Played it at Guitar Center and was blown away by the tone and solidity of this thing, with amazing playability and a decent weight to boot. Granted, I need to replace the passive tone pot, but I only payed 320 for it. Yamaha is truly a world class brand. Big fan here.

Hi I'm new to TB, I'd like to join the club. I bought this bass used in 04 or 05, played it for about a year then had a "little" accident with it, the wood was pushed in and broke around the control cavity and the headstock split in the back, I had the headstock repaired and I replaced some broken pots. It sat there for 6 years until I finally dremeled a wood piece a few weeks ago to cover the broken cavity. I missed playing this bass, now I can't put it down. The Yammy quickly became my main bass again, my Fender Jazz A Deluxe V is sitting unplayed now. This bass through my Markbass 121P is so damn awesome.

there add-ons, i like a thumb rest and i did not like the look of the bridge, I like the sound from the 170 so did not want to change the bridge in case the sound changes so I covered it with a black ashtray cover.
