Yamaha Peter Hook Custom Bass: Any News?

Hello everyone! Long time listener, first time caller.

Has anyone kept current on the Peter Hook Signature model that Yamaha is supposedly producing? Is this a likely production release or only a prototype? I’m in the market for a BB1200S but am wondering if it makes sense to wait for something new.

Would love any insight on this from people who follow the bass trades more closely than I do!

I was wondering the same thing. Felt like they’ve been talking about it for awhile and I was disappointed not to see it at NAMM.

So out of curiosity I Tweeted this same question at Peter’s son, Jack, and he replied, “Good things come to those who wait.” That leads me to believe the project is very much alive. Hopefully we will see it this year! But please keep this thread active if you hear/see anything at trade shows, etc.

Well good that we might see it this year. Even though I don’t need another bass at all this one does have a certain fascination. Interested to hear how it sounds when not trying to play like it’s namesake.
