Yamaha RBXJM2

Hello everyone,

I used to own a Yamaha RBXJM2 in Plum Metallic Pearl color and I sold it. I regret it every day. This particular bass was John Myung's second signature bass (and last) with Yamaha before he went with Ernie Ball Bongo basses.

Does anyone know where I can find a good used RBXJM2? I used to have the first John Myung bass but it pales in comparison (in my opinion) to the second one.

A lot of people don't seem to like the 2nd one either. I, however, loved the tone of it. The only thing I would do, which John Myung eventually did, is add a second pickup. But then again, I think he was trying to make a modern-version of a MusicMan bass in going with just one pickup. Either way, I loved everything about the bass.

Same here. Build quality was lacking, and I could never get a really good tone out of it. Popped the control cavity to have a look around, and the components were floating around in a wad wrapped in black cloth tape. Glad it's gone, but I'd like to check out the second one.

Well if that was the first model, the second was the same. I liked how the woods were done, especially the neck was good, as in every Yamaha 6-string I've played.

But parts were crap and the electronics were also wrapped in some weird cloth with duck tape around it. I guess the Myug model was meant to be just a marketing thing for DT fans. At least, in retrospective, that was the reason I bought the second model :) But those were good times :)
