You should keep the bridge and tuners as they are very expensive to replace, the bridge alone sells for almost $200. If you sell the bass the buyer may not want to buy it without the stock pieces. I know I wouldn't.

I noticed that with the BB series there were some unusual basses here and there too.
One of the TRB's that I kept was the TRB6JP because it features that same mid range type of knob, although I thought that the TRB6JP had quieter electronics than the TRB-6.
the midrange knob is set to passive when it's all the way to the bridge. in the center position it boosts the lows, highs and cuts the mids. in the position towards the neck it boosts the mids only.
you probably noticed two trim pots inside the bass. on the back!
one is the overall volume. which I have between 75% to 85%, because if you have it all the way to 100% you increase the volume, but you also increase noise!
the other trim pot selects the frequency that the mid knob will affect.

Hey stflbn - that black TRB looks great. Same model as mine, although mine has the satin finish not gloss - which brings me to a few questions...
Did you(or previous owner) have the bass refinished - I've never seen them in trans black. It looks awesome.
Also did you do the replacement for the bridge and tuners? I would love mine with chrome hardware. Just wondering if you needed to do much drilling for the bridge or if you had any issues at all?

I'm new to TB, but here is my main bass since 2001. A turquoise (Translucent Blue) Yamaha TRB6P. This thing sings with a little bit of chorus with about 50% piezo mix. I also use distortion with it when I play metal. Great bass for a variety of of musical tastes.

Does anyone else have an ovankol-top TRB 5PII or 6PII? I have only seen two of them; mine and the one I didn't buy the same day I bought mine. I've never seen another one in the wild.
If you look back a bit my last post I had my TRB 6 JP with the original pre-amp changed out for an Aguilar OBP-3... which was awesome...
But now I have a U-Retro 5 knob deluxe by East UK and its kicked the pants off the original circuit and the Aguilar put together!!!
It was a doddle to fit and sounds phenomenal.
The guy who makes them is John East (He is a gentleman and a genius in my opinion).
I'd decided to get this after I had fitted a J-retro to my Lakland and been bowled over.

Hey Marty - I once had the chance to buy a MIM Fender J 5 for a ridiculous price and replaced the pickups and pre (Bart pickups and J Retro 6 knob). Most incredible sounding and versatile preamp I have ever heard.

That is absolutely beautiful. How does the fretless sound with the piezos? I've been wanting one like that since i got my 6P.

I would like to join with my TRB-5P. It has been converted to fretless. I tried to imitate the F-Bass "fret" markers; has epoxy over ebony finish.

Thanks again for the heads up Gscroggin! I'm still debating about this one even tho I bought my BB1200S last month. I think I'm just going to hold out the GAS and go for either a fretless blue or red trb6p or 5p. I still need a cheapy bass for those seedy bars in south TX as well lol.:scowl:
