Hey guys,
sorry for this silly question. I've tried searching but I couldn't get the info. Does any one of you guys here knows the pickup dimensions of Yamaha TRB JP2? I'm looking at a Bartolini pickup but I'm not sure if it will fit. I can't measure mine now because i didn't brought my JP2 with me. I'm playing abroad now. Any infos will be appreciated. Many thanks!

I don't know the dimensions, but those are really weird thin humbuckers. They look like really wide single coils. I'd be shocked if any aftermarket pickup fit the routes.
I recall the pickup config is very similar to the original TRB-6P. If so, these should fit:

anyone successfully swapped out the stock pups and went passive ? if so what did u use and did u like the results? I went passive with the stock pups but it picks up a lot of interference
I put passive Bart soapbars in mine, albeit with an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. Frankly, I was surprised at how little the tone changed. I might not bother.
I have been with this bass around 5 years and this is the most best one among basses I have. It's a bit heavy but it's tone is really versatile and solid. Since it's also my father's gift, I am very sure that I will keep it with my life!
I swear I saw someone playing one of these at a festival at the start of the month. It sounded awesome. Looks incredible in person as well.
I've gigged a TRB1005 since 2006 - the tuners were junk and fell apart so I upgraded those. Overall a great instrument.

If you're talking about the 3-way preset mid knob which was in those 90's trb's (I have a TRBJP), I mostly use it in the flat position, and sometimes in the mid-boost (3rd) position. The mid boost sounds sometimes good with back pu favored, Jaco-style sounds. Anyway, those wheels on the preamp itself let you adjust the cut and boost frequencies and volumes quite a bit so that's something you should experiment with. Even I haven't done that enough since now I have have presets that work for me.
I haven't found much use for the 2nd (mid scoop, bass and treble boost) setting because at least to me it boosts the bass too much and makes the treble too bright. For me the sound gets a bit muddy. I can't switch to that sound live without tweaking the treble and knobs too. But that's adjustable too from inside, so I think there are many sounds available from there too if you just noodle around with it enough. And it depends of your taste. Remember that the JP I'm playing has ebony board, so I like to be quite careful with the high end, I don't like too much "zing" and brightness up there. But the treble pot lets you keep that in control pretty well. If your trb has rosewood board, it's a bit different too.
Anyway, I like the TRB's very much

Here's my TRB1005. Needs a bit of a tweak, the low B isn't sustaining the way it should. Currently got it strung with Status Hotwire flatwounds, it sounds awesome.
