YAMAHA TRB CLUB

Okay, last pics for now, I swear! lol

So the guy who did my de-fret did a really good job. However, the fingerboard could have been a bit smoother, so when I got my strings in today, I got some super fine sandpaper and wetsanded the fingerboard up to 3000 grit. You can now see the ceiling light in the fingerboard! LOL

It's technically 5mm. However,I use a 3/16" Hex key with a ball end on mine and it locks in the threads very tightly:

(the ball end does, i dont try the non ball end)
The reason why is the truss rod cavity thingies are so short, that most of the angled ends of hex keys are still too long to properly fit in there. A ball ended 5mm key would probably be best.

Wanted to post a little TRB update re: my 6PII. I wanted to use some non-tapered strings, so I wanted to have a luthier sink the bridges a little bit further into the body. I found a guy named Pete Taylor over at Chellee guitars in N. Central Florida. He routed the height of a jumbo fret further into the body under all 6 strings and sunk the bridges down a little bit. The result is I can use whatever strings I want now, with whatever action I want. His precision is amazing. If I hadn't told you I had this done, you'd never know. Here's some after pics:

here's how high they sit originally:

Its a small difference in actual distance, but it makes a world of difference everywhere else! Plus he gave a quick pass at the fingerboard to make sure it was completely level, cut the nut a little bit lower and gave it a setup. It RULES.

God damn, that's awesome looking.

I recently had a Bassmods 6 and a Ibanez BTB6, and got rid of both of them cause neither came close to competing with either of my TRBs.
Now i understand that.
The bass mods behind is for sale already.
So i have 1 BTB6, 2 BTB5 and 1 Brice Z6.
Looks like I'll sell all of them and get a Yamaha TRB 5.
I'm impressed with the sound.
My wife doesn't play anything, she said to me. This bass sounds amazing it's clean i can hear it better than all other basses you have.
I'm happy with this bass.
