Hi, that's me on the video.
So, what (why) is the difference in sound between test 1 and 2? And great playing btw.
Thanks Povl. My wife decided to take a video while I was testing the pickup. And I uploaded both the video she made. So there's no significant difference between both videos
I'll try to be more conceptual when I upload gear test videos next time..

Very nice playing, I noticed you also have a Ehrlund EAP pickup. When you have some time, could you possibly post a clip of the Ehrlund for comparison?

So, I ordered one, took it to my luthier today and it turns out that my present adjusters are larger than the Yamahiko. His suggestion is to cut a new bridge specifically for it - $250 (not something I was anticipating). Not sure what to do now.

He said he could do that but did not think that would be the best solution...something about the possible instability of the dowel and glue.
Bummer. If you decide against a new bridge ( I would if I was happy with the one I already had...whole new sound and fine tune set up issues with a new bridge) maybe someone here will buy it from you at the total cost and save themselves the hassle of ordering from Japan. I'd hope the factory warranty is transferable in this case. If you decide for a new bridge, then of course you'll have a spare.
I suspect you would sound good even if all you had was a kazoo. Can you work, playing in Indonesia, with peers?

It's like the maker of yamahiko will make special stereo cables and etc.. but won't make just different adjuster thread sizes...
I ran into the same problem..
Thread adjuster size is a difficult thing to solve but look at what the full circle did to avoid things like this...
(You can buy the full circle in the adjuster size you need for your bridge)... hint..
Having said that I'm sure the yamahiko is better though.. no denying that.
If you don't want a new bridge,
Get the ischell and schertler vintage-b and be happy and finished Earl.. hehe

I would just like to say that ordering was very simple and easy with payment through PayPal and that the pickup was received incredibly quickly considering it was shipped from Japan. And Mr. Yamaya's customer service was top notch when resolving an issue that ended up being 100% the fault of the USPS.

Got a second opinion from the Gage shop and they said it can be easily done in my existing bridge with dowels as they have a milling machine.

Yes, at that time I used an Eminence EUB for my travel bass. It sounded fine. Bobby West..then Dale Alexander were the pianists. Singers..Donna Robins, Coco York and Angela Fabian. The drummer was a Jakarta guy..Tofan. Good drummer. That was a long time ago! Good times!
I want to try the yamahiko, but I don't want to mess with dowels or helicoils in my despiau bridge with 1/4-20 adjusters. I contacted yamahiko about the possibility of them making a 1/4-20 option available, and they said that they probably would, and would possibly have some ready around July. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case that would cause anyone else to "pop" for one with that option. Having more of us contact them about it would give them more incentive to do this option, if they can sell more pickups.
