LOL most of these!
Number 7? no one ever accused me of being boring, but I have been called weird!
One of my co-workers did number 10 the other day, when he asked me what I was doing that weekend and replied "playing my bass". After his awful 30 second impersonation of Paul Rudd, I told him if he didn't stop being an ******* I would be "slappin' da face".
Number 3? When I do get asked this, it's usually by someone that doesn't know any better (a non-musician) or a guitard who thinks he's being funny.
Oh, and 12 doesn't apply.
Burn Him with Fire. It's from the movie "I Love You, Man"
Paul Rudd is the culprit
I doubt he was being sarcastic. I heard the slappa de bass thing on the radio so I knew about it, but didn't know (or care) what movie it was from.
similarly, without even trying to avoid them I've never seen a single John Cusack movie. I just checked his IMDB to make sure.
One of my proudest accomplishments was proving #8 ("but when you break a string, EVERONE notices") wrong - I once broke a string playing DB in a trio once, and the singer who was standing right next to me didn't notice anything for about two songs, and then only noticed me pulling out the remnants between songs. I did get bad cramps with a few songs left in the gig from all the flying around the fingerboard between the G and A strings, but up until that point apparently I managed to sound like nothing was wrong.

What's even weirder perhaps is that i've never seen office space where they destroy their copier in the parking lot. I fix copiers for a living and customers like to bring that up to me. They act like it was the wizard of oz or something and everybody just HAS to have seen it.
Well, I've seen a lot of crappy low-budget post-apocalyptic movies but never watched "Blade Runner" and didn't bother with more than a few minutes of any of the "Mad Max" movies. Or even "Shrek" for that matter. Also never heard Jaco.
Office Space is not the Wizard of Oz, but it is a necessary movie. I would say watch it online for free next chance you get.
Blade Runner is a must-see, and Mad Max (the first one,) is essential viewing, and even more so The Road Warrior (the second one.) The third one (Thunderdome,) is not in that same league. Mad Max is a low-budget Australian film that does a great job using what it has, and as action movies go, is a bit slow, but very dark. The Road Warrior is perhaps the greatest post-apocalyptic film ever devised, and gets everything right. Emil Minty as the feral child is one of the most iconic performances ever, and you'll swear the blonde guy is Mick Jagger's younger brother.
The buses/cars/motorcycles/gyrocopter scene is one of the greatest action scenes ever filmed.
And Jaco is amazing.
They drove the copier out to the desert and killed it there, mob style. Great movie.
Mellow, have a laugh, wouldja? It's actually not a bad thing to do. Therapeutic, even...or so I'm told. Consider it an amalgam of all the "greatest misses" threads on TalkBass.
