Does the sound man at any of your gigs every complain that he is too loud? If yes...use that as your reason why he doesn't need all that...because, he doesn't need all that.
He should try extension pills... Probably cheaper and easy to carry them around.
Quick question: where do you perform venue-wise that accommodates this amount of gear and potential volume?

We play a lot of outdoor events... and larger local indoor events. No, nothing stadium size. But, you do not need 3 stacks. It's novelty and as I titled.... ridiculous.

Back in the early 00's I was in a band that had a big CD release show at a bigger venue. (Georgia Theatre) anyhow we had lots of real estate to work with and a road crew. Guitar player had two full stacks with double stacked heads. I myself had two fridges, two 15's and two 18's and four heads. Sicko!
It was fun to look at. Our opening band loved it too. I've got a recording of the night somewhere and it really does sound good. Best part of the night was the pay.
