Yet another blind slap test

I liked E the most, and C in second place.
Both of them have boosted highs and lows tha I find more comfortable for long periods (a whole song, for example).

A & B i think are the most balanced sounding, but I'm not sure I cant enjoy 5 whole minutes of that slapping sound.

I think D has too boosted mids for slap. Those mids saturate my hearing too quickly.

Yeah, I call that 'gank'... that kind of 1K harshness in the upper mids. That can often be dialed out, but if it is inherent in the instrument, it can be a problem IMO. I agree, A has no 'gank':D Really nice!

Thanks for the new vocabulary word! I'd been using "honk," but "gank" is way more appropriate!

It's the quality in a bass that turned me off to active electronics for the longest time. I had a G&L L-2500 that was an extraordinary instrument in every way, except I could not dial the gank out no matter what I tried. As I became acquainted with other active basses I found that they did not have the problem. My F-Bass BN5 was entirely gank-free, as are my EBMMs.
