Yes, I searched already...

I have an opportunity to buy a 3/4 size ply instrument with a Paige's Music label- Concert Series, Model 21 in VGC.

After checking their website it's apparent that they're student/rent-to-purchase basses, but I couldn't find any for sale or pricing information. I'd use it mainly for backup.

I'd reckon it's Chinese-made. Does anyone here have any experience with these or any more info for me?

Thanks in advance- I'll check in later on tonight.
Best,

Never heard of them. There are good Chinese basses, and there are dismal Chinese basses. No way of knowing what you might get from them without better information.

What is your budget? Who is your teacher?

Thanks for responding, KungFu-

Neither are an issue. I've been playing it for the last couple of months on my Monday night gig. The exiting bass player leaves it at the venue and hasn't the room at home for 2 doghouses, so he offered it to me for sale. He put weed whackers on it, (they're ok, I guess), and it's set up fairly well and sounds pretty good though she'll never replace my #1.

I just wondered if anyone here might know who manufactures these for Paige's Music (Indy) and what I would normally be paying for a new one. I could give them a ring too, I suppose.

Update; I had a trusted luthier give it a quick visual inspection and he advised me to go ahead with the purchase. It's in good shape overall as I'd thought and the price is right- will need some minor upgrades/mods but I'm in experienced and qualified hands.

Will update again once we get it in to the shop and post some pics, etc..

Thanks for reading.

I know not what nylon strings they are, offhand. What I do know is that they will be replaced. And soon.

Also, the soundpost is misplaced, the endpin and coat hanger are sub par, and the string posts need some attention. Still, she was worth the price of admission.

Anyone know a good (read; cheap) luggage repair shop in Chicago? The main zipper on the tuxedo bag needs replacing.

Thank you to all for your comments and suggestions.

Overhaul update;
Fingerboard planing, bridge refitting, tailpiece sanding, and she's getting an old set of Helicores. (Still waiting for the new ones to ship...)

I called Humes & Berg directly and got an RA # for the bag- shipped it off today and they're repairing the zipper for WAAAYYY less than any quotes I got around town.
