Yet another "Is this legit" thread

You might be passing up a deal if you happen to be in the market for some Viagra or Cialis. :D

Or a nice high quality R0l3x.

man, what an a**hole.
he might as well have used all of my pics.
do people really get away with these types of scams?

I am glad I could alert you to this scam. Beautiful bass BTW.
+1 on watermarking your photos. Very sad, but horrible people exist.

From what I understand it isn't a scam, its actually a 62 bass. The bass was probibly made in the early 2000's though. At this point you might be scratching your head. What it is, is a fender japan 62 re-issue, that's why you have the perfect seafoam green finish in the modern day finish. The thumb guard looks aftermarket. If it is the japanese model which I'm almost sure it is. Brand new its about 1600 so he is ripping you off. Make sure you play it before you buy it!

EDIT* ask the person for real pictures, if you want to see the bass in person meet in front of a police station that way he can't rip you off

Dude. The pictures are of John Kallas's 1962 P bass. I recognized it the instant I saw the pictures.

i'm sorry, but you're wrong about that. nothing on the bass is MIJ or aftermarket. it's 100% original and i bought it for it's original owner in 1975, so i own the bass in the CL scam listing. go here for more pics:

You weren't following the convo, were you?

I think what he is trying to say is that the ad is for a '62 MIJ Reissue so they pulled pictures of a 10/10 /real/ 1962 P off of John's website.

i don't think he's saying that since he mentioned that he thinks the thumbrest looks aftermarket, of which i can assure you that it's not.

Anyway you slice it, it is a scam and has been reported as such. Not gonna lie though, I wish it were real.

Unless he went and saw the bass in question, he is describing the bass in the pictures as a real '62 (reissue). Did he go look at it? He should say so.

BTW, if you view the CL listing, up on the right at the top you can flag it as 'prohibited'.
CL says: "Postings may also be flagged for removal by CL staff or automated systems."

Done. Let's see how many it will take.

:D:D:D

that JPATA thread was really entertaining!

Indeed. It is almost scary what us bassists can do when we band together due to extreme provocation. You would think we could have done something about 8 and 9 string guitars by now.

It also kind of sad that because this happened, newer TB members with less feedback (myself included) may experience some discrimination all because some @$$hat couldn't be happy with what he had. Not to mention all the instruments this person stole from TBers and probably other musicians.

Flagged it.

WARNING - WILL NOT FALL FOR PHISHING SCAMS NOR OVERSEAS NIGERIAN SCHEMES! WILL NOT PUT UP WITH COUNTERFEIT. WILL MEET IN PUBLIC VIEW TO AVOID BEING MUGGED.

The scammer doesn't want to be scammed? Ironic.....

Translation - "Will meet in public so you won't know where to find me when you realize you've been scammed!"

I never understood why CL buyers and sellers think the parking lot at Walmart is an ideal place to do a cash transaction.

Why not, though? Why should I prefer allowing strangers into my home, which has $20k+ in music gear and home theater equipment, all highly desirable to thieves?
