I, humbly, but assuredly, suggest you keep that green color. Metallic olive are whatever you call it, imo that is a very, very cool color.

Well the olive would at least be one of a kind. The blue speck was way cool, though. I'm still amazed you got the original with hard case for $60. I could go for a deal like that, as long as it functioned.

Sorry, I just realized you were asking about the clear red I was going to use. It is Testors clear red but it is an enamel. After I bought it I did more research and found you can't put a lacquer over an enamel. So if I was going to try again I was thinking of going with VHT Nite-Shades Red Tail Light paint. It is an Epoxy paint, but on car forums they say they put clear lacquer over it and it works great. So that is what I would try next.

The green is growing on me though, so I am thinking of leaving it as is.

I think so. I want to be clear that I have not actually tried that combo, but it should work. Then again I thought the orange clear I used would work and you see where that got me. I just ordered a can of VHT and Blue flake on Amazon for $20 total. Here is the link to the page where I got the idea for this in the first place.

I don't understand what you were trying to achieve by mixing blue and orange. They are complementary colors, and don't mix well. Unless you are going for a puke brown color. The same goes for red and green, and purple and yellow. Personally I would start over, the green look isn't very appealing IMHO, but if you like it its all that matters. But considering the fact that you are thinking of starting over, I would suggest that you not settle for what you don't want.

Thanks for the info. This is what I was going for. It is Metal Flake Blue with Reranch Orange over it. It is a brownish red color.

I am going to fix a few minor blemishes and try again. Does anyone know if you can have too many layers of lacquer? I have two layers of primer, two layers of blue metal flake, and the clear orange. I will fill and sand some where I have the blemishes, should I sand it all down to Blue? It will be finished with multiple coats of clear. I just don't know if I am going to end up with too many layers.

I vote B! That metallic blue with that white pickguard looked awesome. That swampy green, not so much lol but technically it is Just a "POS Squier build" right? You should take this body as a experimental canvas and since you did originally have a nice color you were going for keep trying till you get it. Success is much sweeter after a few failures.

If it were me trying to achieve that color, I would do a black base coat, with a silver/gold flake, then as many layers of trans red to get the desired result

Nice. It's great seeing this thing come back to live I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of the flake, but yours certainly has style!

I let the green sparkle bass sit for two weeks, partly to see if it would grow on me, partly to make sure the paint fully cures. I liked the green but didn't love it, so I filled in the last few imperfections, sanded, and shot it with blue sparkle again. While I was at it I also painted a test piece of wood blue. Once it dries I will shoot the red VHT and post a picture of that. I am not going to wait for the test piece to cure, so I will do that later today.
