Yet another reason to dump IE and go Firefox

While I would never do that myself, you have to realize that a large majority of people who use their computers are completely uneducated as to how they work or the fact that people can use them for ill means.

My mom, for example, had to be taught everything she knows about computers---thankfully, I was there to teach her, and I taught her NOT to do things like that. Other people, however, simply don't know and don't understand.

Lets not be hasty to judge those who aren't as lucky as we are to have this knowledge.

I couldn't agree more. Sort of like car owners! Here is an example: How many of you actually know how a batchfire, sequential, or tuned port induction system works or what the differences between them are? To us mechanics out there its kinda "old hat" but to most people they have no clue. Heck, most people have no idea how an internal combustion engine even works! A computer is a rather complex (like a modern automobile) piece of equipment that most have no idea on what makes them tick.

A lot of people have made the switch but the number of people on firefox is still very small compared to those on IE.

But Firefox has taken 5% of the market share from IE, and that number continues to grow everyday. Firefox still has security flaws in it, just like IE, but no attacks are aimed at it due to the small number of people currently using it. But hackers are starting to look into Firefox more and more, and it doesn't really help that the whole Mozilla project is pretty much open-source.

Uh, IE 6 actually blocks pop-ups now, I get spyware even when I use Firefox, I've downloaded skins for IE, updates are free for IE as well (it's called Windows Update ;)), and you can pretty much customize any feature of IE the way you want it, if you know the right files to edit.

Not gonna happen. The fact that Windows is very hardware friendly (supports many more "combinations" of vid. cards, motherboards, sound cards, etc.. than, say, Linux), and that Windows is more user-friendly than most other OSes, assures Microsoft that they will always have a healthy section of the market, thus, game developers follow the money as well...

I can agree with you to a point.

Falling prey to these scammers is a result of ignorance. That is why I said these types of people should not own a PC. Time some time to educate yourself before you click the "sign on" button.
