Yet another Sansamp bddi settings thread

Sorry, but I've read like hundreds of threads about Sansamp settings, and there're always just a few of them, besides most of times people don't say the kind of bass (active/passive) or if they have combo or head/cab and which types, another good information might be the kind of music they play with that settings, or maybe which song has the kind of sound the setting delivers, that's why I'm creating another thread to ask for your favorite Sansamp settings.

I actually owns the programmable one, the one with three channels, but the controls are the same in the bddi and the pbdi.

FYI I've read the manual already, and tested all the settings in it.

I'd appreciate if you guys do it like this:

Drive: ?? o'clock/noon
Bass: ??
Treble: ??
Presence: ??
Blend: ??
Level: ??

I prefer something close to the fat tube setting in front of my GK 700RB-II. It warms up the GK a bit. I keep the EQ around noon and the blend between 12 and 3 o'clock. I find the blend to be the key for me. You can add a little more drive if you don't have the blend dimed.

What's your bass(active/passive), strings(flatwounds/roundwounds/etc)?

I try to get as close to Geddy Lee's tone with my BDDI. Here are my settings...... Clock positions.

Drive - 3
Bass - 12
Treble - 1.5
Presence - 11
Blend - 11.5
Level - 12

Birdsong fretless or fretted Fusion, D'Addario Chromes (med gauge) or roundwounds (also medium gauge) into either Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 or a GK MB200. I'd been leaving off the board for a while, but it's back on right now for non-drive, EQ/Preamp reasons as a footswitched treble cut. ("Fat Tube settings except the Treble cut completely and the Blend at 9).

A couple of years ago and for 3 to 4 years of continual use I was performing a "Global Reset" every time I plugged into the Programmable BassDriver and selecting the FatTube setting. I would then plug the BassDriver directly into the power amp that I was using (Effects Return on rentals or PowerAmp in on my Ampeg SVT 3) thus bypassing any additional preamps.

EB Music Man Stingray 5 String Bass with either EB Regular Slinkys or D'Addario EXL170-5 Nickel Wound Long Scale Light 5-String Bass Strings plugged into a BOSS TU-2 tuner into the SansAmp.

90% finger style player with 10% slap at the time playing in an Original Alt Rock band.

One Note - when I did mess around with the Programmable Bass Driver, I found that I did not like the sound of the Blend control anywhere other than at 100% full on. If I was loosing my mids, I simply turned down the bass and treble controls. FWIW.

I switched to a paradriver a few years back but when I used a SABDDI (for many years) the settings (in clock face notation)I used were....

Drive: 11
Bass: noon
Treble: 11
Presence: varied from 9 to 11 depending on bass/strings/amp/room
Blend: 11 to noon
Level: wherever I needed it, just a volume knob after all, i usually set it around 2 to start.

Sometimes I would turn the drive up more and the blend down. That seemed to yield a fatter tone. Was much more effective for me than turning up the bass knob. Boosting the bass, or really the treble knob too, pushed the pedal into mid-scoop land. Cutting freq's only (except for the presence knob which is boost only) worked WAY better for me. Basses used were a warwick streamer lx6, Chris Larkin Reacter 5,and a fretless Jazz. Probably more of the fretless J than the others. Rounds mostly, but had a brief flats period in there. Honestly, I preferred setting the SABDDI to emulate an amp and left it there. I figured tonal changes made from using each different instrument were to be expected. Didn't vary the settings other than the presence knob much at all.
