Yorkville 410b cab question.

Anybody have kind (or not so kind) words to say about Yorkville cabs?

The story goes like this: I've been saving for a decent amp, but got a case of GAS and bought a bass with some of the savings. Now I'm limited to the dough I can spend on an amp, so I'm trying to go budget-minded.

I just ordered an Ashdown MAG300H (God I hope that wasn't a mistake - can always send it back and get a GK BL600) and I'm looking for a cab to go with it. My local GC has a used Yorkville 410b cab for around $200, and was considering picking it up, and hopefully adding a single 15 cab to it in the future.

Yea or Nay?

I've been trying to do some searching on the 'net for info, and not a lot of luck. It looks like there are at least a couple versions (the ones I found were older looking, at least). Here's the pic snagged from GC's site:

They are not bad at all. They don't have the bass output that some of the much higher priced cabinets have but will do you fine as long as the speakers are in good shape. The new Traynor models are improved but you won't find one at that price for a few years.

I still have a 1x15 cabinet from that era that I bought used (I got a pair and have since sold one) and It was a nice sounding cabinet. I paid about $200 each for them and never had a problem.

Replacement speakers, if you need them, should be easily available from Yorkville.

It sounded pretty good to me in the store yesterday, but since my head isn't here yet I can't say how it'll sound with the Ashdown. I went ahead and picked it up, though. The cab has been in the store for a while and they're starting to mark it down pretty far. It started at $299, then went to $265 on the website, I got it for $220 OTD with a nice cable thrown in. I wanted to go ahead and make sure it was mine before it went away. I love their "test drive" policy.

You got a good deal. Let us know how you like it.

Another question... The head I got is 307W @ 4ohm. This cab is an 8ohm cab, and says 300W on the bottom. It also has dual inputs with "parallel" written between them. Does this mean I can plug in 2 cables and have it run and take all 307W my head has to give it? Will it hurt anything?

Sorry if this is a silly question, I've never dealth with anything except combos until now. :(

I'm not positive I understand your question, but I wouldn't recommend connecting two speaker cables between most amps and single cabs. (Only amps with 2 channel-power sections to cabs with bi-amp inputs would use this connection method)
Your cabs second parallel-jack would only be used to daisy-chain (or connect) to a secondary cab. (sounds like your amp would work fine with two 8-ohm cabs though)

I have used and still use a rack right with a Yorkville 4x10, and an EV 115 under it. I play old metal mostly, and I've used this rig for country bands, and rock backline for some pro acts I've done sound for. They loved it. I love it. It just works. Usually powered by an old crown pb2, sometimes bi amp and some not. I put a compressor first into a sans amp and go from there. Sometimes use Ashley pre. Wish I kept my old peavey one, they made a really great solid state pre for a time.
