depending on how deep you want to get, you might send that old pickup to someone that can do the work and see if it can be salvaged somehow.

All kidding aside, you did a great job with that bass. It looks like Sting's actual '56 P. I am absolutely not a 'relic' type of guy but I would love to get my hands on a bass like yours (or Stings) It deserves whatever you can install to make it it what you want it to be.
