+1 on the trying to save the original pups. I think Lindy Fralin does it all the time. The warped bobbins may be a different case, but get in contact with him, IMO.

Otherwise I'd go with some custom shop pups like someone else mentioned.
 
Why don’t you post some photos of the pickup and maybe we all might be able to suggest some ways to fix them up.

All kidding aside, you did a great job with that bass. It looks like Sting's actual '56 P. I am absolutely not a 'relic' type of guy but I would love to get my hands on a bass like yours (or Stings) It deserves whatever you can install to make it it what you want it to be.

Thanks buddy, it means a lot coming from the TB community. Been coming here for darn near 10 years now and I don't think I would've had the confidence and know-how to take this project on without y'alls advice throughout the years.
