You have a month or so left to live

I'd do lots of things I've wanted to do. Off the top of my head, going snorkeling would be one of them.

Here is my hang up: I would like to say I would visit justice to the door of some truly evil people in the world. Child rapists, dog fighters, murders, etc. It's such a romantic notion that we've all thought about.

But I think I would feel robbed for not spending it with my loved ones.

One month...Okay..seriously..

I would fly to Italy. See the one woman who stole my heart. Let her know I still care about her. Let her know that she has done no wrong in my eyes. Give her one last hug.

Come back to Chicago, Play a couple last gigs with some friends ( for free of course ),
And my last hours would be spent, sitting on the east facing edge of Buckingham Fountain. Knowing that while there are so many things in life you wish you had a redo button for, that it is time to let the mind drift into the vast ocean we call the Universe.

A month or so to live....hmmmmm

Wouldn't it be ironic if all those people who still harboured enough bitter resentments to spend their time on gruesome revenge found out that the "or so" part of this statement meant they would be living another 30 years...but would now be doing it behind bars.

The wankers, on the other hand (no pun intended but it's quite a good one), would get to spend another 30 years jerking off.

Me:

1. Ask for forgiveness for all the people that I may offended, stepped-on, back-stabbed, or hurt during my lifetime;
2. Tell my wife all of the things I have done in my life (which she may not have known about);
3. Take my mom on a special trip, just to try to make-up for all the times I let her down;
4. Video tape something for my son, telling him that I was his dad and regret not being able to spend more time with him;
5. Tell my wife I am sorry for all the things I did to hurt her;
6. Takeout an insurance policy where the beneficiaries are my wife and kid; Airtight so that their needs are filled even when I am gone;
7. Take confession;
8. Enjoy some of the hedonistic aspects of life;

These last couple are pretty good. Honestly, most of us wouldn't get around to visiting revenge on many of "those people": if you get told you are down to a month you probably are already feeling like crap and have no energy for any of that. You spend the first month or two in denial, "oh hell no, there must be cure." Then you're depressed, or angry - reverse order if you must. Then you accept it or give up. My second wife was told 6 months(brain tumor) which turned out to be 20 months...the only thing she wanted WHILE she still knew who she was, was to die at home. I kept that promise but would have preferred not to have. The closure for me and my daughters was good - it's a lot easier to let go when you see life is sucking badly for the dying person.

Now, if you were like Harrison Ford in Bladerunner where you are perfectly healthy but know your lights are getting powered down in 30 days, well hell yeah, live like you are dying. Break out the rocket launcher.

Why waste time dumping all your guilt off on your kin? This plan is inefficient. I say eliminate 1 through 7 and go party!
